Bed is gonna be a scratch built utility style bed, headache rack and whatnot. It'll be somethin kinda beefy looking. I'm still drawing it up though.

Drove it yesterday for the first time!! Little squirely on the highway but not too bad really. Brakes work really good and everything held together. After a short drive around some roads to kinda shake it down, me and my buddy promptly buried it in a creek bank. :D

I used lost foam to cast that piece. It's horribly simple. Carve from foam, glue on a sprue, bury in dry sand and pour aluminum on it. I do standard cope & drag sand casting too but some things are easier in lost foam. Especially if you aren't going to repeat them. Shrinkage on aluminum is only...

What about the lower plates? Easy to find?

This is a shift-knob that I cast out of aluminum. I made it to fit my hand exactly. I still have to tap it and whatnot but that's what's going in my Deuce.

I read a thread earlier about mounting the plates in the HEMMT wheels. The plates could be mounted on either side of the wheel for the fronts. There was some debate about this working correctly but I didn't see much resolution. 99% of the wheels I see are mounted with the plate on the back...

I got my wheels now, tires and valve stems. I've been reading about assembling them here and I've seen a couple posts mentioning silicone. Do I need to silicone the o-ring down to one side of the rim and then silicone the other side before assembly or not? Another thing I saw mentioned was...

Yes, I started cleaning them with a syringe full of armor all and a toothbrush but it was getting too tedious. :-)
