Do you recommend doing this by removing the pan or watching the cable move it down from the outside...?.....I have checked its operation from the outside and it seems to be functioning properly but without the pan removed I can't say the same for the lever actuating the valve body components on...

Ok, found it in the parts technical manual with a little more searching. It appears to be the neutral safety switch but not sure if that would prevent it from going into the forward gears. There are 2 wires, maybe one for forward and one for reverse? I don't know just guessing......if its not...

Ok, so what is that black solenoid looking thing next to the selector shaft lever? I can't find that in any of the TMs or parts TMs....? Something tells me that is my culprit..... Joe

Thanks FP.....I will look for this solenoid you speak of but I was under the impression these transmissions were hydrologically operated. I have already inspected shift linkage and selector shaft and all seem to b operating fine, I have yet to inspect modulator cable as another just mentioned...

Fluid smells fine and shifter is moving cable and lever on trans, just no go. This is just so weird how it was running fine a week ago. All I did was replace a headlight and a couple bulbs this week.

Interesting how technical manual says if slippage occurs in all forward gears check fluid level but why would it go into reverse just fine and not any forward gears? Sorry, again, I am not very knowledgeable on autos.......

Got an update.....I did a fluid level check and it was a bit overfilled. I filled it when it was cold and obviously level went up when it got hot so I took some out down to proper fill level. Grabbed the infrared temperature gun and went for spin. Temps on the gauge were in the 275-300 range...

Well, I think I found a worthy fix! Got an idea from the recent thread I saw about the interlock air cylinder.....I just took my air cylinder off and removed the locking shaft and put the air cylinder back on without that shaft. Works like a charm now! Shifts very smoothly right into low...
