That may be likely, I bought the truck from a SS member - AMGeneral. Brandon was a super knowledgeable and super nice guy. He did say that he had turned the pump up a little for more power. To his credit, it certainly does have more power than the deuce fresh from the GL lot.
Your hypothesis...
Thanks Mike. Just to clarify, at a known 55 mph one truck shows 2800 rpm and at that same known 55 mph rate of travel the other truck shows 2400 rpm. (for example, with trucks driving side by side one shows 400 rpm higher than the other)
I've always trusted Deuce #1 because the max speed is...
I must have a couple odd balls then, both of my trucks have 9/16 fill/drain plugs on the tcase, as does the spare tcase I have. (the tcase has larger fittings than the axles and trans)
Is there a retro-fit kit for the tcase or something? I'd love to have 1/2" plugs throughout.
Thanks for the...
Another question - deuce #1 shows 2800 rpm at 55 mph (Sheriffs speed camera says speedo is accurate!), deuce 2 shows 2400 rpm at the same speed. Which one is right?
Okay, so we did have one minor problem. In the last 5 miles of my trip home in Deuce #1 I had to downshift for a steep grade. The engine didn't over-rev or anything, but that's the last time I remember looking at the tach with it functioning properly. Now it just bounces off of the bottom as...
RhinoMike - sorry to hear of your troubles. We picked up a GL deuce this morning from Indiantown Gap PA. We expected the worst (more or less your situation) and drove my 1970 M35A2 up with tow bar all the way from Fredericksburg, VA (long, loud ride!) just in case. Got lucky this time, truck...
What sort of registration/tags are other VA residents running?
I finally got my title and tags for one of my Deuces yesterday. The actual trip to DMV was a bit comical, the woman behind the counter informed me that I had mistakenly filled the Empty Weight box with the Gross Weight. I...
Is there a standard length to a slave cable set?
I've seen them 4' long, seems short but more practical if stowed in the vehicle. Any reason you'd look for a longer set?
It's not really _that_ bad, after all, the truck is mostly being used for road repair, so there is typically something loosely defined as a roadway there to begin with.
I'm an avid off-roader so I'm familiar with floatation and air pressure. I did not try airing down the (NDT?)'s. Truth to be...
RE: Re: Deuce in the mud
I've got some 52" XZL's but I don't think they will fit a deuce without relocating the rear axles. I'm not sure if they will fit the front without a lift. The other problem I have with the XZL's is that I have no wheels for them. I know USA 6x6 makes custom wheels...
How can I get my deuce to perform better on soft ground?
My truck came with what appear to be the standard skinny tires and duals on both rear axles. They cut through soft ground like a knife and leave the truck stuck too easily. I think the truck would perform better on the soft ground with...
When it comes to MVs I'm as green as the paint on my M35A2, but I've been building similar vehicles (actually they are MV's in most other countries) for 15 years. We do a lot of repowers in my shop and here's my take on it:
You're talking about putting a motor with twice the HP and more...
Man, and I thought my wife was understanding! I have 12 Toyota Land Cruisers, but when I told her I was bringing a deuce home all she could say was, "you're not planning on keeping it here at the house are you?
All I could say was, "Not yet." (in my head I finished with, "not until I get the...
I just bought my first deuce a few days ago and immediately realized I must have more. Several more.
I've been told it's best to be prepared to tow a deuce home from GL just in case it's not driveable. Assuming a poor run condition is the only problem and a tow bar will get the next deuce...
