My mule working for a living.

The previous owner probably shortened the pick up tube. No big deal, just a little less available gas in the tank.

I see that using the Wix filter in the fuel tank the fuel pick up will have to be shortened about 3/4 inch, or an adapter ring made to take up the extra space at the top. Either way will work fine.

One thing you might consider, if the shrouding is still off you might want to take out the screw on the carb extention tube. The other two will hold it just fine. The way it is now, if you need to pull the carb you will also have to take the shrouding off and pull the fuel pump to get that one...

I don't know who makes the mag wheels, but the wheels on my A5 all have "Alcoa" on them so I assume they are aluminum.

I did the same thing here in Michigan, only took off the right side. I was able to drive it out of the woods and even drove it onto the trailer. Bill Watson had everything to fix it. I even bent the axle and had to replace that too. I was surprized it was only a little over $100. for the fix.

Looks like the Tow mule on there. Is it done now?

I addede four steering to mine and am not sorry. Much more maneuverable. The military went to two steer because of roll over issues, but common sense driving and that is not a problem. There is the possibility in tight quarters of swinging the rear into something, so caution must be used there.

I bought an engine from them just to have a spare. Terry will talk your ear off, seems very knowledgeable. I paid a higher price than I should have (should have bought from Bill Watson). I posted this on the "G" also. I am familiar with the idle adjustment on the mule carb. I do get some black smoke while running, and occaisionaly the plugs will foul out with black soot. Am I missing an adjustment somewhere or getting ready for a new carb?

Can anyone give me a hint about where to connect an oil gauge to my mule engine? Either electric or tube type. It makes me nervous not knowing if I have any oil pressure!
