    Bad turbo

I had marked the shaft and compressor wheel when I took it apart and took care to line it back up, but how close is close enough? 6 miles to failure would indicate something major wrong. I will not be taking my new turbo apart that far. I just installed my smaller exhaust housing and reclocked...

    Bad turbo

My turbo has the exhaust turbine with shaft and compressor wheel seperately balanced so they do not need to be clocked. This is not always the case and as you stated they must be balanced. I solved my poor rebuilding ability by buying the new one. Hopefully I will get it installed tonight.

    Bad turbo

My bad turbo story While working on my little Cummins which is in the truck in my avitar I noticed the turbo had some play and was leaking oil into both the intake and exhaust. I thougth it was simple enough to put a rebuild kit into it, so I did. Cheap fix... I finally drove it for the first...

    Missouri deuce guys

I'm in Waterloo, IL I'm in Waterloo, IL. That's 25 miles south of downtown St. Louis, so all of you guys in the metro area are pretty close to me. I can't be of much help. I'm still trying to learn the basics. I may call on some of you guys in the future to check a deuce out if your willing. I...

ANyone preview the deuces at Redstone Arsenal?

Pricing evened out at the end When I originally posted this there were 2 units in particular I was watching that the price was laging on. I was wondering if there was a flaw in those trucks. At closing the pricing evened out fairly close on all of them. I expected a bigger difference in the...

ANyone preview the deuces at Redstone Arsenal?

I'm new and studying the deuce, which includes pricing. I'm not going to be a GL bidder for a while, but would like to understand the value a little better. I've been watching the current (1-22 ending) GL auction at Redstone Arsenal and trying to understand the value of the various deuces. If...

    Diesel heater vs. coolant heater

What do they look like installed? Please excuse my stupidity. I'm really new to all this. I have been considering purchasing a deuce from GL or a bobed deuce from one of a few here that are for sale. I hate being cold so a fuel fired heater sounds like what I need. I don't believe any of the...

    deuce heater install problem

Hot wax trick? Have you tried the hot wax trick? I'm very new to this site but not to bolts or plugs stuck in motors. Here is what works best for me. Heat the offending object up with a propane torch. When you get it hot hold a candle on it and let the wax run into the threads. You may do this...

Any bobed deuces near St. Louis?

I think I want a bobed deuce. I've never been in a deuce much less a bobed one. Yep, I'm a FNG. I need a ride! I'll buy lunch. After that I can make a more educated decision about ownership. I would hate to go through the trouble of building/buying one and then not like it. I don't want to...

    New guy from Hampton VA

I have the magazine feature scanned. Just a little black and white with the blond (not as hot as I remembered). Most of the other photos are color. The file is too big to attach here. PM me with your email address and I will send it to you. It looks like the magazine name was Cars. There is no...

    New guy from Hampton VA

I'm sure is still have that feature. I clipped it out of the magazine. The truck had a similar effect on me. I think it was a Popular Hot Rodding magazine. I will have to do some digging and see if I can locate it. I think there was a young blond in the truck in the photos.

My daughter will be a freshman there next year. I think that was a Columbia business, but I'm not familiar with him. I didn't realize there were that many guys near me here on the board. I saw 54reo was also local. How many more locals are there? I was into the custom bikes for a while also...

Just another new guy. I'm in Southern IL, near St. Louis.

Hi everyone! I've been lurking here for about a week now, but had not posted before. This looks like a great forum. I'm new to the military stuff. I didn't serve my country when I was of that age. I graduated from high school in '73 and went to college for 2 yr after that. At that time no one...
