air leak
the part you are describing is defin. the "air pressure switch"... just replaced mine because of the exact same issue... easy to replace.. be careful and unplug both wire connections.. use a gentle twisting motion... then loosen nut for copper line.. then take off both bolts on...
since we are on this topic, does anyone know where i can get the bracket and hose kit for the deuce?? this is the one that moves the mushroom up the exhaust stack... if i fab the brackets, where do i get that thick bendable rubber hose to connect the mushroom?? thanks... mendo..
i just got won off ebay.. it looks cool, but thats about it.. palladin ice, on ebay still has not returned any email or money as he said he would... switch never worked.... carry spare, "old one", just in case...

yes will, if they want to be a butthead they can create all kinds of things.. more than the third axle and weight capacity.. i currently have a class "B" with air brakes endorsement.. have it because of my job tho, but comes in handy since i started this hobby.. the officer...
ditto, i'm in california... if the highway patrol decides they want to give you the blues they can cite you, if this happens you lose the historical vehicle regis. that means you will be paying a commercial fee for that beast on payload capacity...wow... and thats a lot lot more.... ouch...

overheating
sounds like the radiator to me... my truck had a similar problem, minus the head issue.. took to radiator shop and they took mine apart and rodded it out to clear all the clogged tubes... man there was all kinds of junk in there... now she runs cool, with no issues ever since...
drip gas
i mentioned this to norman at ant. val. truck parts... he said "drip gas" should not be used... and that the multi-fuel engine will not react well to it... at the cost of parts, time and a rebuild, it's probably best to stick with your trucks preferred flavor...."diesel"....just my...
engine trouble
i agree, check all the fundmentals... but start with the fuel filters, when i first got my truck it was slugish also... i changed the fuel filters, the old ones were nasty... anyways, man what a difference!!! i also changed the oil... thick old oil can slow things down also...
i was draining all fluids from my beloved deuce when i came across something that everyone fears most...... metal chunks on the transfer case magnet... after draining all the gear oil i fished out even more bits that matched that on the magnet.. my digital camera has taken a dump so i can't post...
dennis, it could be a few things... try the easiest first, had a similar knocking and i was fearing the worse.. found out it was a combo of water in fuel (diesel) and clogged filters.. thus causing some starvation at the pump.. listen around the pump (injector) for your noise.. add a good...
