WHERE have all the M1008/M1028 gone?

Try Government Surplus Auctions - GovDeals.com as well. Type "military" in the search engine and you can see 1028's and 1009's quite often. These are the ones that local government entities sell after using. There are sometimes Hummers on there as well. You can also search on Auction Zip -...

    Site Update News

A Members Map/Location tab would be awesome. I would like to be able to see where other local MV folks are. Differing levels of membership would be good as well. Free to Premium. Free gets you what you paid for....:-) Congratulations on the blessings of a new child come September.

    Need Help Removing Intake

There are two studs mounted in the intake that hold the air cleaner on. The rear one sheared off at the base and went down into the number 8 cylinder. They are a two piece construction and can be picked up at your local Chevy dealer for about $8. I have two new ones now.

Installed a new piston in cylinder 7 along with new push rods and gaskets. Blasted and painted the valve covers and oil pan. Bead blasted the water crossover and did a general cleaning of the engine bay as well. I have the left side back together and am starting on the right side. It would...

I am a rather new member also. I have owned an 09 for a month and three of those weeks it has been apart in the driveway (won't fit in the garage). I have searched and searched for answers and they are sometimes elusive and many pages deep. I kept going to the CUCV PM & TM site but couldn't...

Nick...I hope that's the worst of it. :-) MakersTeleMark, I will take some and try and post tomorrow. I was trying to avoid removing the fuel pump but that ain't gonna happen. Even my eyelids are sore from folding my old body up under the hood and sitting on sharp metal objects straining my...

    Need Help Removing Intake

OK seven stinking hours to get the intake, right valve cover, fuel lines and right head off. Unfortunately the air cleaner stud is not to be found in the right cylinder bank. I never thought I would miss the guys at the motor pool at Ft. Polk. :-) I am trying to locate the intake, valve...

    Need Help Removing Intake

It was running for about 15 seconds to warm up when the knock started. I shut it off and then noticed the air cleaner wing nut was off. That's when I realized the stud was MIA. Stud is 1/4" x 4".

    Need Help Removing Intake

Well I got the intake off this AM. Looks like the stud was ingested. :-x I looked down in each cylinder and couldn't tell which side it went down. Pull the exhaust manifolds and see if it "falls" out? Pull the heads and hope the cylinder, piston and rings are OK? Or, buy a donor M1009 and...

    Need Help Removing Intake

I just purchased a 1986 M1009 with 72,500 miles on it. Before I started out on the first journey, one of the air cleaner studs broke off and fell down on top of the valve train. Knock, Knock, Knock. I can't retrieve it with a magnet, so I decided to remove the intake. I have removed 8...
