If you are looking for sheet metal body parts for repairs then I suggest these 2 sites,
(www.classicparts.com) and also (www.lmctruck.com). For sheet metel parts I think classic parts are the cheapest but for anything else, lmc trucks seems to have a much wider selection to choose from.
They...
Had same problem, leaking at the plastic drain screw plug which Chevy/GM does't sell by itself.
Got a new base with filter from ebay for $45. The only other thing I had to buy was the fuel pressure switch for the fuel filter base.
Check the ground wire from the alt to the engine block which is kinda hiding behind the alt bracket and beneith the air filter housing.
Had my alt rebuilt and still had the same problem.
After that, I traced the ground back and found it was a broken ground connection at the engine block.
Replaced the vacuum modulator and hose at the transmission. Oil looked good when it leaked, smelled like new tranny oil.
Drove it a little and it seemed to shift a little better but did not fix the problem.
The vacuum valve on the engine looks to be dry rotted where the other two rubber hoses...
My last question will be, "Is their a complete rebuild kit on the market" that includes the vacuum modulator and other such parts.
If I am going to rebuild I like to get everything at one time. The gears to me are fine so I am betting now its the torque convertor, filter, vacuum mod and control...
What size and what type of torque convertor should I be looking for.
I will be using the vehicle for highway use and towing. I do not need anything like street racing.
Any brand name I should be looking for, size and bolt pattern?
No leaks to be found at the vacuum modulator.
I also forgot to mention that when I am driving up a incline their is a major loss of speed.
I basically live at sea level but when I do get a hill, major loss of speed.
Correct, I have to let off on the gas for it to catch the next speed. Im hoping its maybe a regulator valve or breather valve first before I have to rebuild the transmission.
I am also wondering could it be bad fuel since it happens when I am at 35mph.
Seems like my truck drives fine up to the point of reaching 35mph, which sounds like the RPM is running high.
At that point, I will depress the gas pedel till the RPMs drop then when it drops is when I press the gas to get more speed
How much will a new torque converter cost?,
My M1008 seems to be having problems lately with gaining and maintaining speed.
When I get about 35mph the engine seems to produce high RPMs so I have to let go of the gas to lose the high RPM and accelerate again before the whole thing happens again at around 45-50 mph.
I have done my regular...
Ive tried with GM/Chevy dealerships here in Hawaii and made calls to the Main 48 States.
They all tell me that they are no longer produceded and look in a Salvage yard for such parts.
I can make the spacer, thats not the problem.
Like to know the threads and length of bolt mainly so I can keep...
Looking for the long alt bolt and spacer for my M1008.
Any help in locating said items or even the size of the bolt and spacer would be fine also.
My lower alt brackets keeps breaking at engine block due to the wobbling caused by not having the bolt and spacer.
Thanks
