    325/85R16 XML wheel size?

I'm going to test fit a tire on a 8" wide wheels first. I read that for every 1/4" change of wheel width than 9", the tire changes 0.1". So 1" less wheel wide will change the tire height 0.4". So the 38.7" tire should become 39.1", I hope it doesn't crown too much. These tires are heavy...

    325/85R16 XML wheel size?

I just bought a set of 325/85R16 Michelin XML tires for my M1028. Michelin recommends a 9" wheel, but doesn't offer any alternatives. The data I've seen says these are 38.7" x 12.9" tires when mounted on a 9" wide wheel. I am in the search for wheels right now. I heard that these tires do...

    Hehehehehe...it begins...

Wow, that's an awesome price. I found some new ones for $550 per tire!!! I'd love to find some used ones in good shape for that price. Althought shipping to Alaska is expensive so I'd probably end up paying close to new anyway.

    Shelter tie downs

My M1028 is a 1985 model, so it must have had the earlier style tie-downs. I like the fact that they don't stick out beyond the bed, less chance of hanging up on something. I will probably never use it to tie down an actual shelter. I just liked the idea of having it there as a bed stiffener...

Largest tire size for cucv m1008 stock vehicle

After reading this thread, I decided to go with 285/75R16 Firestone Destination M/T tires. I was really please with this size and tire selection. The taller tire reduced my engine RPM's at highway speeds and the M/T tread isn't too loud. The tire cleared mud well and kept the truck going on a...

    Shelter tie downs

ONTOS66, thanks for the great pictures. My truck has the holes in the bed for the base, but doesn't look like it had the angled brace to the top of the bed. Is this brace something that was added later?

    Shelter tie downs

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like the tie downs are pretty heavy duty. The diagrams in the TM are pretty good. The only thing I can't tell is details about the large vertical piece. Is built out of tube or angle steel?

    Shelter tie downs

My M1028 is missing the rear shelter tie downs. Rather than trying to hunt some down, I was thinking of fabbing my own. Does anyone have pictures of them or dimensions so that I can make my own? Thanks in advance.

    New CUCV owner

I've already used it to pull my 8,000# Bobcat out of the mud. With the body in it's current shape, I wasn't worried about brush scraping the side of the truck getting to where the Bobcat was. One quick pull with a 4" nylon strap and out the Bobcat came. I can't wait to mount a hitch so I can...

BTW, he also gave me another brush guard since the one on the truck is bent up. I'm also missing the rear shelter tie-downs. The decals came off the doors, but took about an hour with the heat gun and a scraper.

    New CUCV owner

Hi, I'm new here and a new CUCV owner. I bought the truck primarily to become a work truck / wheeler. After seeing all of your trucks, I kind of want to restore it but think my truck may be too far gone. It's a 1985 M1028. It began it's life in the military then ended up as a MWR truck with...
