Well, I will probably "all out " an A2 for asthetic reasons, but will build a couple(my dad wants one(a2) and my brother wants on(a3) I.
I will build the only crewcab for myself , but they are paying me to build theitrs , so should cover a lot of costs on mine. I need to find 2 trucks for mine...
Chief, this seems to be sound advice. i guess now upon reading pages and pages of posts that this is the overwhelming consensus . I am going to heed the warnings, drive mine for fun, and get something else for work.
Thanks to all
Awesome video. Can't wait the 3 weeks til we get ours.
I've read alot about alternators crapping out would a 22si work in a pinch on an a3 in specific(because that 's what we will be retrieving) but will it work on a2 as well..
Again not permanantly , but in a pinch. I only ask because I have a...
Aren't these two trucks just 5 tons with a crane and 5th wheel? So it seems I am back to square one. I don't mind spending some money, A used CXT is about 60,000 . I could build a whole lot of truck for that. I already have access to a bunch of the parts to convert it over, such as air...
Badmastard, thanks for the welcome.I am currently sifting thru the wealth of information here, I will still build my truck, but may only use it to retrive locally and use my dads 1 ton for further hauls. Thanks for all the advice all
For the purpose of a bed, I had planned on bolting the sheet metal from m200a1 trailer on and bolting 5th wheel directly to frame. This way I would not gain extra heighth from an actual bed. Mud guppy, that is actually pretty close to the original plan, except for the airbags and disc brakes.
Also , to top it off in the heat of the conversation , the resident english proffessor kkicked in and questioned my education...hard to resist that, went outside....aua
Thanks, it was pretty touch and go for awhile . I was pretty steamed.I am nothing if not level headed , so resisted the urge to snap.
As I stated earlioer , we already purchased an A3 for bobbing and resale, but I do think for my own personal truck I would be a little happier with an a2.
I did...
Alright, nuff said, I concede.I am currently reading other threads/ posts on the subject.
I get it, either can't or shouldn't be done for a number of reasons.
I still think it would have been a super cool truck, but realize now that I won't be building for this purpose.
I also understand the...
Wow, Glen , thank you maybe you"re right and I wasn't reading the answrs properly.
I still want a bobbed crewcab deuce , but maybe for hauling purposes a 900 series tractor would be better.
I think I was so convinced it would work that I wasn't reading that it won't.
Thanks for showing me the...
Alright , I suppose that is justified, but asofar as the MF engines are concerned , I have no experience. That is why I posted here.As far as I Know the commercial/civvy never used the Mf engines.
At the end of the day however, they are still a diesel engine and and except for a few mods and...
ok, I see. Thanks for the explanation.
I am reading previous posts with the search function now.
It seems that this is "the eternal question", ...
I definatly prefer the look of the A2 over the "cobbled" look of the A3
Since I am hard headed and prefer my own transmission selection....
I guess i...
The road ranger is a personal preference thing, not much gain as far as top speed. A2 has a .85 overdrive while road ranger is at .80, so only slight gain.
But the advantage of splitting the gears is in my opinion worth something.
I still would like to be in on the Hurst Amx thing, I don't...
I never excluded engines. That was almost the point.I didn't post to start trouble and didn't know about the 100 post count.
I will use the search function.
I merely sought to get current opinions from guys who were online currently so that i could get reasoning and facts behind the opinion...
finally, a good answer , thank you, have class a cdl, but since you are the second to mention it i will definatly check into dot regs,...ok looks like 5 ton series may be out unless someone can give good reasons to keep it in the runniong.
