Cost of getting a good truck?

Don't be discouraged. I have a great winch truck with hardtop, heat, whistler turbo and a bunch of new tires. A few guages don't work. I would sell it for $4500 and that would be a good deal for both of us. Big trucks are incredible fun but totally impractical. Fun wins with me. The trucks...

    Is my M35A2 starter waterproof?

The clutch pedal feels much better after a good bath. It was filthy inside. Brown water running out for a while with the hose on full blast. There apears to be a grease zerk hiding behind the clutch access plate. How many of you guys knew that was there?

    Is my M35A2 starter waterproof?

You could just pressurize the bellhousing or at least put the plug in. 2-3 feet can be bad if you make a wave. A snorkel would be good insurance. I think that the fording kit is kind of an all or nothing deal. Keep it dry or plan for the worst.

    Is my M35A2 starter waterproof?

So its been a couple months since starter trouble. Put a rebuilt starter in from boyce. Everyting was fine until some fender deep mudding. It was unplanned and got deep fast. The bellhousing plug was out and the starter was force fed a lot of mud. Solenoid clicks but doesn't spin. @#$&...

    is this worth it??

I have bought GL trucks recently and I think the price is up a bit. I think that $4k for a truck that you can hear run and drive is a fine deal. You get a title right away and know what you are getting. My friend just bought his first GL deuce and it went 115 days to get the euc. 2 more...

    runing deuce on inside tires

One of my deuces is on single outside tires right now. Works fine. I agree that it is more stable withe outers only than inners only.

Any first timers have a 5143 auction clear yet?

I have 2 buddies waiting on first EUC's right now. 1 is around 60 days and the other is pushing 90. Sounds like Battle Creek is way behind. There sales have not been canceled.

    Ellsworth

Nice pics. I picked up my deuce from ellsworth last november and took it straight to mt. rushmore. Fun place to cruise a deuce around. Ray at ellsworth was a great guy. He is one of the good ones.

    Ellsworth Recovery- with Drama

Nice Deuce Mark. I picked up my deuce from Ellsworth last November. I also had dead batteries. We jumped it at the lot and drove it home to Laramie WY. We made the 350 mile trip without any trouble. We got lucky on that trip. I bet that your truck was a SD National Guard truck like mine.

Help, my hose hangs down too low

I would sugest shortening or re-routing long slobber hoses. During some recent 6 wheeling my slobber hose was damaged by the spinning front output of the rockwell. It probably takes some real flexing to get the hose caught but mine did have an unscheduled circumcision. :(

What does a Water Buffalo weigh?

Water weighs about 8 lbs. a gallon. Gets heavy fast when you fill it.

    Air comprssor belt adjustment

There is a special wrench which makes the job easier. I do not have this wrench and was able to do it without it. Tap the pulley with a hammer to help get the threads unstuck.

    Front axle change for Moab

I have been to Moab several times and wheeled lots of it. The real trouble is that daily drivers and extreme trail rigs are not the same thing. The cool trails you see in the 4 wheeling mags are not for the truck you drive every day. Those trails do require purpose built rigs with front/rear...

    DC magnetic circuit breakers usefulness

What to look for on GL

If you don't like gambling then this isn't the place to be. GL is a big gamble but when you score it is great. Preview if you can. I allways roll the dice.

    Breaking Down Tires

I droped a 9.00-20 at the tire shop on mon. for a nail. $35 at lunch lthe same day and it was ready to go. They do lots of tractor tires, construction equip and they do tires for the local guard here. They knew exactly what they were doing. $35 well spent.

    "How to" section

I think this could be a great idea. Pictures of crucial steps could be huge $ and time savers for everyone.

    backing up in low

Since this thread started as backing up in low, can I shift from low to hi in reverse? :jumpin:

    increasing reliability and offroad performance

Another good reason to relocate the tank to the bed is the possibility of water entering the fuel. The fording kit does nothing for the fuel tank. If the tank was underwater in the bed it would be shoulder deep water in the cab.
