Go through everything, especially with a single circuit. when mine takes a dump (dual circuit) I will do a HydroBOOST complete conversion that will allow me to add power steering at a later date.

those better be grade 8, or you may be drilling out a broken chink bolt out of the crank......slop never sieve on the crank too.

heat the balancer in the oven, and use a dab of "never seize" on the bolt too.

Maybe rig up a gas tank that has the 60psi fuel pump for FI gas engines and just put diesel in it. Probably could get one from a parts car cheap.
