For a Newbie to these trucks, Can I get everyone to list what they had to repair/service/replace when they got their truck and over the next 12 months

I have fixed a lot of things - too many to mention. I had plans to fix things before I left Yermo but it took so much time that we gave up. There is a thread about my trip and some of the things I did fix before leaving Yermo. I wish I had greased the doors and checked the gasket on the...

    Need help with unhooked hose

Micah, Thanks for checking. I appreciate it. I will continue to do some research because it looks to me like there was a hose on my fitting and it broke off. I do not like that it is just open like that. Anyway, I will let you know what I find out. Jon

    Need help with unhooked hose

Nomadic, I think you are correct. I see in the C12 manual that it comes from about the same place but instead goes to a filter. My truck does not have the filter but everything else makes sense. Thanks. I will need to research what should be at the end of this hose and if I have any hoses from...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

Artisan, I found your post very condescending. Your attitude seems to be that you are right and I am wrong even though you know nothing about me, the situation, and did not ask me any questions. I am surprised that SS allows bulling like that. "That is an 80,000 lb rated towbar if I remember...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

Success! The seat moves forward and back now and my wife is happy. Also, thanks to Elijah95 for the tip about the seat height switch. Switching the hoses worked.

What have you done to your MTVR today?

I pulled my driver's seat. I was going to replace the air switch on the seat but when I looked underneath the seat, there are just 4 nuts holding it on. Well, in my case it was 3 because one was MIA. So I pulled it to see why it would not adjust forward and back. My wife has trouble driving the...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

MTVR, I have counted 37 so far. Which is strange because I watched the video from the Marines about greasing and they did not seem to find that many. I guess I should watch the video again and count this time. Ha!

    Need help with unhooked hose

Micah, It is not from the starter. I opened the hood and removed the flaps and I was finally able to locate the fitting by accessing from the wheel well. So I took some additional photos. It seems to be a crankcase vent. But I am worried that it just stops and does not go any where. From...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

I found out what the access hatch behind the cab is for. I was going through and greasing everything and I could not get to the output shaft that goes into the transfer case. So I noticed that there was a panel right above the shaft so I took it off. This photo is looking down from behind...

    Need help with unhooked hose

Micah, I did a favor for you so now I am asking a favor from you. I was looking for grease zerks under my truck (found 37 so far) and I found what looks like a fitting that should have a hose on it. BUT there is no hose to hook to it. Could you please check your truck and see what hooks up to...

    7 Ton transmission oil change

Micah, Thanks for your input. I think you should post a link to your video here too. Our videos are different but both are helpful so they should both be posted where people can find them. I did put a link to your video in my description on YouTube. Yes, I will change the fluid again. I just...

    7 Ton transmission oil change

I made a video of changing the oil in the tranny. I know Micah made a video but I thought I would do a different take on it.

What have you done to your MTVR today?

I drove my 7 Ton out to the desert to get the tranny warmed up after changing the fluid. I wanted to get the transmission above 160 so I could be sure that the fluid was travelling through the cooler.

    Fan and brake fluid questions

Elijah, I checked the Cat engine manual and it states the the engine will shut down. Now, you might be correct and perhaps the Marines disabled that feature. I don't think they did because Cat would not warranty an engine with the over heat shut down disabled and I know the government got a...

What have you done to your MTVR today?

I finally had time to mount the period-correct tow bar.

    Fan and brake fluid questions

The engine has protection from over heating. It will shut itself down. The other thing that would stop the fan is the fan off switch in the cab.

    Our MTVR camper:

The newer trucks have 3 major changes. 1. As MTVR mentioned, they have A/C as standard equipment. 2. A newer model of the Allison transmission and the next generation of the electronics controls for it. 3. Suspension changes for the factory installed armor. Jon Sent from my SM-G988U1...

    Backup camera for 7 Ton

Here is the photo of the camera monitor in the cab. The monitor for the camera could be brighter because on a sunny day it is a little hard to see. I left mine at the normal brightness because if I adjust it brighter then at night it is too bright.
