    M1009 vs. M1008...

I agree with both. I lean towards the m1009 I get daily driver usage out of my m1009 and can tow and load stuff in it. If I had a real heavy load I would use a m1008 but the 09 is fine for wheeling also as long as you have good tires and a good driver. You can camp out in a 09 without any prep...

How to know if my 6.2l is running as it should

I decided to take on at least one project a week for a few months on my CUCV and I tell you it makes a huge difference. When you do take the dash out to remove the instrument cluster, get 2 small speakers if you want to install a radio later you can put them in and run cable now. There are ports...

First tank WMO and engine quits!

If they are not getting any fuel to the injectors? My CUCV will NOT run on just either I have fogged the snorkel (I have a ram air setup so cold air gets pulled in from the front of the truck) and more either just made it hard to turn over ( ie hard on the valves etc) Even though the snorkel...

How to know if my 6.2l is running as it should

Sounds like you need to remove your speedo cable to clean and lube it. Min bounces up till about 15mph but after that it's smooth! My m1009 is slow off the start but will run well on the highway 70+MPH. When towing a load it can be a dog but hey, it's not really made for that either. I replaced...

First tank WMO and engine quits!

Great! Glad you found the problem! Hopefully running a blend with wmo will lubricate the internal better and you won't have any problems going forward.

First tank WMO and engine quits!

If it fires with either then it is getting some fuel. As far as I know diesels won't run on either alone and must have some diesel being injected to fire. I'd crack the lines at the injectors and turn it over to see if you are getting fuel at all the injectors. If so then tighten them up and see...

    Gl lack of cucv's

I see a lot of them in civilian service ie local government use. Some are going the GSA route many are sold on the side of the road or at local gov auctions.

    Hobart Welder Quality?

We use a Hobart welder 220v at work and it is great! Easy to use with multiple settings. I agree with going with 220 after all you have an electric drier plug right? The flux core wire is easy to use I didn't like using the gas.

Coolant in oil, can it be separated?

The main advantage for the 55gal drum is portability. I collect and transfer to 55gal drums and once set up the fuge runs without me being there and a full 55gal run tank = a full 55gal finished tank but the rounded bottom is cool!

Coolant in oil, can it be separated?

I did what oddshot is talking about with my setup. Mine has a 55gal drum turned upside down with a drain on the 3/4 bung hole and a valve on the barrel 2" above the new bottom of my barrel. I cut out the old bottom and have a larger barrel top to cover that hole and keep out rain. My barrel...

MEP 004a stuff I couldn't find by searching

Not to hijack but what type alternator (model) is supposed to be on this unit My genset has no alternator for charging and they cut the cables to it and the starter. I looked for the TM here (so I could rewire what they cut) but couldn't find the one for mep 004. Thanks to Peter D for helping...

    strange "bump" when decelerating quickly

Wow thanks for all the great replies! I haven't had a chance to get under the truck yet. I have replaced the driveshaft allready. I don't think it is a bad rear axle as it has been there for over 10k miles and I figure I would have had to replace a rear axle by now if it was that. it's almost...
