    Unused wires on mep 803a

I'm not all that well versed in how the burden resistors work, but I think there could also be a possibility of a damaged or cracked resistor, or a poor solder joint on one of them that could be causing your issue, if Detoxit in the switches isn't helping at all. @kloppk is 100X better at...

Nice paint and detail work, coming from someone with 30 years of high end body and paint experience! (y)

Wema Fuel Sender For mep 803a

Regarding the plastic spacer, an 802 does not have the "drop off" in the bottom of the tank and therefore does not have the side wall interference potential, this is why the 802's sender is only 5 1/2" long. Your tank may not need the spacer, it all comes down to how flat the top of your...

Cant see letters on MEP002A on switches

I have a brand new ( NOS ) still in the wrapper control panel and I may also have a used one in good condition, if you're interested. Send me a PM if you want me to look into it.

    Just Purchased my first MEP803A!

Not sure that test is valid. With batteries disconnected the gage will probably stay at zero because the set is running off the alternator and not "discharging" the batteries. the meter measures current flow in and out of the batteries. That said, you are correct that the gage usually moves up...

Burned Up Air Compressor Motor while Running 803A

I'd say if the generator is putting out voltage within the ~218-242 range and more importantly 58-62HZ, than I would probably just chalk it up to bad luck. Only other thing is that an 003 will usually pop the breaker instantly when overloaded by an inductive load, before the engine bogs down at...

Burned Up Air Compressor Motor while Running 803A

Did the compressor sound normal when it was running? I'd assume it has both a start and a run capacitor on it. Without the start cap the motor won't start, but it can still run with a bad run cap and depending on it's condition, running with a bad capacitor may have caused your issue.

    Exhaust Gasket

The sad truth is I once went into a local chain parts store looking for a brake hose for a car I was working on. The kid at the counter said they didn't have it in stock, but asked what size it was.... I hesitated briefly, wondering if he thought I meant a steel line, but almost died when he...

Wema Fuel Sender For mep 803a

Here's some additional info https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/mep-803a-pegs-fuel-gage-all-the-way-down-past-empty.171729/#google_vignette The 803 uses the same sender just in an 8 1/2" instead of the 5 1/2" length. But pay attention to the notes about the possibility of it rubbing on the...

    Exhaust Gasket

As an FYI, if anyone ever needs one quick, a standard 2 bolt automotive exhaust flange gasket is equivalent. Most auto parts stores have them ( in the back ) all together arranged by size. If you don't have the original you can take your muffler to them and ANY parts guy worthy of being in that...

    New owner of MEP 802A

How many hours do you have on the machine now? Looks like you got it with 31 hours, still well below the break in period. Typically they will use little to no oil ( no noticeable amount ) between oil changes. If you're loosing a substantial amount it could simply be a matter of the rings not...

    MEP-803A3 oil pressure gauge help

Regarding the actual wire numbers, you can look at the schematic on the side door and find your oil pressure gage, the schematic will show you what wire goes where. Note: you will have 2 wires on the ground stud and probably 2 on the "I" terminal as well because the gages are all daisy chained...

    MEP-803A3 oil pressure gauge help

Your wiring description is correct. Nothing goes on the O terminal except the mounting strap nuts. Make sure your mounting strap has plastic inserts in the holes to prevent shorting the O and Ground studs together. As LITD stated, the gage operation sounds correct except for 1 thing. When you...

Butyl Automotive Sound Deadener on a MEP-80x?

The biggest advantage of that foil covered butyl mat is that it not only blocks sound but also takes away the panels ability to transmit vibration and noise an kills the "tin can" of a big flat piece of aluminum. On an 802 ( not as much on an 803 ) you can see the top covers vibrating when its...

Mep-002a gets 240 at the lugs, but control box gauge says 120.

Precisely why you should always start by checking the SIMPLE, FREE stuff first, if all that fails, then dig deeper.... inspect, test and lastly replace!

MEP-802A MEP-803A Fuel rack and metering pump installation tips

Hi guys, as many have probably noticed there seems to be an increasing number of threads with people dealing with stuck metering pumps and stuck fuel racks on their 802's and 803's This seems to be a more frequent problem, now that virtually all available fuel sources have been low sulfur only...

Mep-002a gets 240 at the lugs, but control box gauge says 120.

Make sure the switch Kloppk indicates is in the 2:00 position on 1 L3-L1 L3 If this is correct, I would clean and exercise both that AM/VM switch as well as the main AC selector switch in the AC reconnect box.

    MEP-804A/B fuel float switch replacement - non-existent??

"Custom" sounds pricy! What are you looking at for 1 custom sensor? There's gotta be a better solution out there. Have you exhausted all associated PN's? I assume yes. By this I mean that when searching by NSN number you can often find other OEM PN's associated with that NSN number. Those PN's...

    Winterizing MEP-803A

I don't know if I'd worry all that much about the batteries. You're only going to run the heater for a short period before starting it , and all it needs is like 5A to run. The military used them like this, no reason it won't work for you as well. Sounds like you will get AGM's probably group...
