M939 winch install (Pics & Video)

I would like add to this thread with my recent winch install on my M923A0. I installed everything but the winch, frame extensions and pto in about 10 hours. The pto itself took about 7 hours, with a transmission oil change also done at the same time. There are definitely 2 different styles...

Anyone regret goin to 16.00r20 Tires on M923a2?

I have a M923A0 With 16.00r20 on it, with HEMTT rims. The rims provide approx. 2.5" more negative backspacing on the front axle, which stops the rubbing issues when in full lock-to-lock steering. With regular 5 ton combat rims, the left steer tire WILL rub the pitman arm. 5 ton combat rims...

MEP 802A vibrates badly and shuts down with low fuel light

Make sure the hertz is adjusted to 60-61 while under load. If the hertz drops below 60 while adding load, vibrations will get worse.

    My MEP-803a experience

Cut the oil filter open and observe is another trick. I think any diesel rated oil will work, 15-40w, provided you don't run it in single digit temperatures.

    My MEP-803a experience

The correct engine oil is 10-30w with a zinc additive for your flat tappet camshaft. To check your coolant, park generator on a level surface, with the engine cold. Remove cap and stick finger in radiator to verify coolant level. If you can't feel it, then it's low. I use a suction gun to...

Advice on a 50-100 gallon Auxiliary tank for MEP-802A generator

Use poly barrels so you will not have any rust problems. Or a 275 gallon square tote. Treat your fuel with biocide, and try to store it in the shade, inside, out of direct sunlight. Keep in mind diesel is flammable, so have a plan to fight fire and be careful as to what is around your...

I do like my rum and coke. Problem is, if I ever run out of rum and coke, you guys will probably kick me out of here for being grumpy.

Heartfelt Thanks to John M, "98G" for Outstanding Transportation Svs!!!!!

My thanks to 98G as well. He has helped me several times, doing recoveries, repairs on equipment, and welding projects. If any of you guys need some fabrication work or welding, he is the person to use. The latest project he did for me was a chainbox on my trailer. Bombproof, water tight...

Anyone have a Mep 802A fU1 FUSE or konow of an equivalent fuse (F03A125V30A) ?

There is a complete fuse holder nos in the classifieds. Would you guys mind discussing why not to get a slow blow fuse, and what the differences are in the ceramic fuses. Never sold or stocked any ceramics in our family owned parts store.

    Fort Drum GL Chaos

dav5, I truly feel your pain. I have been involved with GL on several transactions, and they are sometimes less than pleasurable to deal with. You handled the situation better than I would have. I am thankful that you got a good generator, and that it runs and functions. Could have ended...

New guy with a new ride seeking winch purchase advise

I would buy the 3/4" cable if it looks new and clean, for $25. Resell it and use the profits to fund the correct cable needed for your winch.

    Generator wet stacking discussion

Dieseladdict nailed it in post #38. Matching paint is standard protocol for redneck testing at my base of operation.

    Generator wet stacking discussion

Which chevy thermostat? Old small block chevy 350? If the stock thermostat on a MEP-802a is a 170 degree, then maybe a 180 deg. F would be worth trying, depending on your operating environment. If you guys really want to "experiment" with raising the operating temp of the coolant, and do it...

    Generator wet stacking discussion

What about some custom porting/polish work on the head? Or checking/setting the squish on the head/piston? Do diesel have squish like a 2 stroke engine? What about custom injectors with a smaller/different spray pattern and or changing the number of spray ports on the injector tips?

    I love generators!!!

Took my MEP-802a to the car wash today, to get the oil residue off the sides and bottom of it. I couldn't be any happier with mine, once I found all the missing parts needed. DWnorton built a very cool power distribution box inside of a fat 50 ammo can for my genset, and it works very nicely...

Does that particular bracket fit just the 8.3l A2 trucks, or does it also fit the nhc250?
