Battery imbalance. Related to dual voltage? Trying to understand electrical system

blutow, Amp hours is a measure of power that can't be done with a shunt by itself. Shunts only measure current.

Alternator V-Belts rattling. Should I replace?

If the wobble settles out when the engine speed increases your good to go. As for matched sets if you have a good shop nearby (more than a kid with pimples and a catalog) that will let you look thru their belts look for 2 from the same manufacturer AND look for a couple with matching production...

    Periphery washer source

After 10 years do they still offer them? I know they were hard to find when I redid my M37 35 years ago.

Where to find a complete, working RT-524

Just a note to potential buyers, Sgt Jarhead's main radio guy and good friend passed away last month so the availability of these radios might be dropping. There just aren't many of us that know how to fix them left!

Fan stays on when I floor it.

It would have helped if you'd stated which variant and engine your working with. A 998 with a 6.2 and a 3 speed are different in this regard from an 1123 with a 4L80.

    Stupid thermostat question

I've been working on the fan clutch and water pump and wanted to replace the thermostat that was in the truck with a full flow, 180 degree unit and searching online for thermostats is turning out to be a PIA chore!! All of the websites listing information on thermostats list their opening...

4 wire cable next to dog house

Typically the wires from the Solargizers run directly to the battery box and don't enter the crew compartment.

    glow-box and a cheap solution

Fits all 1994 to 2002 GM 6.5L diesels with electronic injection. Your HMMWV is 24v, not 12v and it does not have electronic injection. Still think this is a plan?

EFS Surplus yard In Grantsville, Utah, 20 minutes from Jack Tomlins old yard..

Any idea how to get in touch with Dave Hamilton over in Tooele? I've been trying to reach him for a couple months now but all my contacta are dead. I'm hoping nothing's happened to him. Thanks. Please PM if you can.

    M-80/U mic wiring

The M80 mics are a piece of crap. 50% of them come out of the box bad and the rest fail if dropped! One of the worst products in the inventory. They're usually so cheap I'd just throw is away and use an H-250.

    No Power on AM-1780

Find a copy of TM 11-5895-1548-34. That'll help explain what's happening.

    Is voltage regulator bad?

Mogman, Your right that you want to read the voltage as close to the generation point as possible to avoid any losses in the cables and connections but I think measuring the voltage at the STE.ICE connector is a whole lot safer than some of the bubba rigs I've seen with guys trying to measure...

    AS-1729/VRC for CB Band

The 3900 also has a big power wasting 50 ohm terminating resistor in it. It has a bad habit of frying itself and is probably the most common cause of their failure. I've replaced plenty of them and brought the antennas back to life.

    Mil Radio for 80 meters

Amplitude Modulation for long range comms on HF is the world wide standard. It just works. The military started moving away from HF comms with the advent of SATCOM until they realized how fragile satelites are. You can take one out with a good fighter and a "cheap" missile.

    Is voltage regulator bad?

You can safely read the alternator output voltage on pins W and V of the STE/ICE connector without running leads around the truck.

    Mil Radio for 80 meters

It's well known that the military buys everything by the pound!

Any guesses on this wiring? M1123...also light issues.

From the looks of it it's house wiring and not part of the HMMWV harmesses. AMG doesn't use SO cord in their harnesses. Find the other end and let us know where it goes.
