1991 BMY M923A2 loses heat when temp gauge hits 200 degrees

Radiator is probably stopped up. It will be plugged on the left side, which is the hot side, with the entrance up high. Pull the radiator and have it rodded out and cleaned. Before pulling the radiator, get several 5 lb. boxes of cascade, drain the coolant, fill the truck with water and...

5 ton dump: Good to be back here!

Welcome back. Hope you have a wonderful holiday and stay healthy enough to wear the truck out.

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Well I can assure you that the # 11 spot on God's list was claimed by the Chinese and their evil deception of tool production and quality, or lack thereof. It is a shame what is taking place in this country, our lack of jobs, the lack of quality readily available tool stores, and our state of...

700 mi. What do you guys think?

Go for it!! Couldn't be any worse than driving a 5 ton topless 342 miles in sub zero weather. HMMWV should be easier to deal with and isn't straight off the auction lot so go for it. Probably be more fun than anything. Take cold weather gear, fuel treatment for gelling, fresh batteries, and...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Did it thread onto a standard nato base, just like mine that comes on a M939 truck, with the longer antenna?

M925A2 Cold Start Test and Result, -11F (Michigan 1/6/14), Cummins 8.3L

I have no experience with A2 8.3l. I have multiple M923 with NHC-250. One of the very FIRST mods I do is add a coolant heater, which installs in the right side of the block. I cannot begin to express how much adding one helps when it's cold. Very easy to install, and much easier on an engine...

ABS light and fried alternator linked?

    Check and clean your grounds.

ABS light and fried alternator linked?

Voltage regulator. Did you replace the pcb with new or used? Voltage fluctuation, or low/bad batteries will fool with the abs function.

    MT654 Gear Selector shaft Stuck

Shipping kills everything. Just guessing, but around $400 to ship. I would build the one you have. They can set the valve body shift points while in the truck or installed on a dyno. Keep your old trans for parts, torque converter and other internal parts are highly valuable.

    MT654 Gear Selector shaft Stuck

If you have a trans out of a truck, take it to an Allison service center or someone who has a transmission dyno. They can run the trans and test it's shift points, running temperature, and see if it is good overall. I bought 3 reman MT654dr from GL and each one came with its own dyno sheet...
