Ok, you need a kit..

Ok, first things first, I have a non working lift pump, so probably going to need some ether. After learning my lesson with the heater, I removed the air box first so I could get some in there.

Now start the truck, then bleed the bottom. You are now ready for phase 3, secondary and final fuel filters....

Then... wait for it.. wait for it... SPIN it on !

Fill this filter with fuel.

Ok, you need to tighten that nut on top of the filter base. You must fight with the alternator again. You cannot lose, failure is not an option. Once you win, take a break, you'll need it.

Stick hex nipple in adapter, and hold nut at the top while you spin the adapter on. Get it as snug as you can by hand, because you have to fight again very soon.

Put in new gasket from kit. Oooh purty..

Remove old gasket from filter base.

Find where you left your adapter. You were showing off how well it is made, how shiny it is. Don't lose your gasket, Oh chit, where is my gasket..

Ok, first, fight with alternator and loosen nut on top of the primary. You must win this fight, otherwise you cannot continue. Refuse to take alternator loose. You can do it. Ok, you won, now cram your hand in from under the truck and hold the nut while you spin the can off. Spill some diesel...

I didn't mention, that I obviously drained my oil first. And after asking a few people if it was ok to flush the motor with diesel, some say yes, some now, and some googling, I did it. I can't recommend, or tell you not to do this. I did not know the condition of the inside of my engine, so I...

Fire it up, check for leaks. There were none. Then move on to another project...

Add oil, 22 quarts !

Install filter one, then two.

Torque to specs. (50 ft lbs) Admire work, take a break, take a dump, smoke or dip.

Move heater out of the way, or take it off. Curse yourself for not doing this first.

Then you realize the heater is in the ****in' way of the torque wrench. Curse profusely.

Screw in hex nipple.
