Work on the War Pig continues

got the bumper mounted today. I think it is to tall. I'm going to chop 6" off of it tomorrow. I added a small deck out of 3/8" plate for a Winch mounting platform. Also added a 2" reciever. Thought this might come in handy some day.

Work on the War Pig continues

I did some research on where the term "war pig" comes from. I know Ozzie sung about it, but it's roots are a lot deeper. When Hannibal was making his march across southern Europe the Gauls noticed that the sound of squeeling pigs scared his "War Elephants." So being the barbarians that...

Work on the War Pig continues

I am seriously looking at fabricating a "dash" and mounting the gauge cluster in it. That way I can use everything as designed, and have the look and function of newer and more modern gauges. Thanks for input Joe. I was sort of thinking that was the way things worked, but I wasn't for sure.

Work on the War Pig continues

I understand everything your saying. I have heard the same thing from people I know that know electronically controled engines. Something about the Check engine light, and making a complete loop in the system. I'm a gear head not an electrician, but I do understand what they are talking...

Work on the War Pig continues

YEP !!! 12 volt all the way. I have already striped all the wiring since this truck is a `59 it needed replacing any way. I'll add new lights, turn signals, and headlights. Everything for the engine is already 12volt, and if I stick with the stock guage cluster it will be an easy switch...

Work on the War Pig continues

The Painless system is just under $1,000. I have heard that if I used the stock wiring harness I would have to use the stock gauge cluster, so, like you said, the computer could communicate properly. So, with that in mind, I have given serious consideration to fabricating a dash to accept...

Work on the War Pig continues

when I purchased my parts truck it was with the intention of using all the factory parts I could. That way I was saving my self the hassle of trying to mix and match parts. I have checked into the Painless Wiring systems, and read their instruction manuals. It states that I have to "Flash"...

Work on the War Pig continues

I've got an NV4500 I'm going to mate to the motor in the next couple of weeks. The transfer case is divorced, so I just need the correct mating flange on the output shaft of the transmission. I'm afraid I'm going to blow the transmission to pieces, but NV tells me it will hold together. I'm...

Work on the War Pig continues

LOL...the engineering class gets an A+. Yes, those pipes are 6.625 O.D. Haven't yet decided on fuel tank location. I was thinking about making a saddle tank going betwee the frame rails and around the drive line for the main tank, and then side mounts behind the "nerf" bars. Could hold a...

Work on the War Pig continues

Finally got time to work on the truck again. Spent most of the winter striping out an `03 Dodge 3/4 ton with a cummins. Been working on the "nerf bars." They are 6" schd. 40. Lucky for me there is a large scrap pile out at the plant. The bed frame, nerf bars, and bumpers are all made out of...

Work on the War Pig continues

Yes I used the front springs and hangers from the front of another deuce. I am custom building my own bed. It will look something like an M-715 or 40's model Dodge Power Wagon with rolled diamond plate fenders on the outside of the bed panels. I have added a few pictures of the build up. If...
