I really like all of the floods you installed under the truck! I also like the extra signal lamps! I'm glad you tested your emergency air cut off. You know what to do if that engine ever runs away on you!
:goodjob:
I hope Poppop makes a HUGE batch of salted boiled peanuts (I'll pass on the spicy ones)! When I get started on eating them, I can't stop. Worse yet, my wife and daughter love them more than me!! I wish the Rally would hurry up and get here so I can get my fix, er, fill of peanuts. I also...
For our operation at the SSGR (and since we are not coordinating with any law enforcement agencies or emergency operations centers, I agree that we don't need a directed net. I was just throwing it out there as an option.
I've been an ARES/RACES member for the last 11 years. We have directed...
Great idea, Kubotaman! I like the idea of setting up tactical call signs. Our ARES/RACES group practiced that a long time ago, and it worked well once we got used to it. It helps easily identify the location of the ham, and helped expedite needed information.
Here are a few examples I came up...
Spend hours/days/weeks reading all of the threads in the CUCV forum. Learn from the mistakes and discoveries of others. Read the TM's (yes, I know they are boring, but they are VERY helpful when you need to repair or replace something). Don't bite off more than you can chew by buying a basket...
The 2m simplex frequencies are 146.400-146.580. Athens repeaters are 146.745 and 145.955. How about 146.500? It's far enough away from the repeaters that there won't be any bleed-over, and it's close to the national simplex frequency of 146.520.
I'm really looking forward to hitting the trails...
Glad I can help, sir. I never bothered to look at the LMC catalog. I prefer using other sources for replacement parts that don't involve paying through the nose for shipping.
Robo - I have a similar height and build as you. A 3XL will look like a tent on you. They are much longer and wider around than what you need.
I also dislike t-shirts with tight collars. I take a 2XL, and I think that size will fit you just fine.
Thanks for the extra information, Frank. As of right now, I have no details from my Sun n Fun POC about additional parking and admission costs. I will keep you posted.
I am picking up a homebuilt PVC/ladder line j-pole next week. One of my fellow ARES/RACES members built the antenna, but I have no idea whom. I'm concerned that my FT-7800R could be damaged if the SWR is way off or there is too much reflected power.
I'm glad you're bringing a dual-band antenna to mount on your mast! I'll save myself the aggravation of removing mine from the pine tree in the back yard. Thanks! :-D
