I am assuming you have the fuel can holder and just want the can? If yes see ebay, there is a person selling them on there. They are used but do not look to bad.
As for the pioneer kit you can try Memphis or just hit home depot. Will be a shovel, axe and a mattox in the kit.

I believe all the official truck with the rings had the reinforcement plate. BUT that is not to say some mechanic was told to add on and didn't know to put the plate in. There is too much weight to run around without that plate.

2500 does not sound bad as long as its in great shape, these truck are getting harder to find parts for. I know, i have a laundry list of parts I am needing to get...
I might be wrong, and probably am, but I would think you would need some side to side play for off road conditions. Like going through the mud, both rear axles will not track through the same path, which would give all axles some grip.
