Well, I would say that you want to talk to Jerry (Storeman). I sent him my injectors that had 3400 hrs on them and he found that most were set quite a bit lower than spec. He's got great turn around time and is very informative and does quality work. Thanks for your insight on this thread, I...

Jerry, Thanks for sticking with me on this. I obviously lack the knowledge of the internal workings of the IP. The thing that threw me for a loop was how the IP is pumping the fuel back up the overflow port thru the drain lines to the injector. Would its being 180 out really do that? But any...

Well, I got it all back together, injectors and IP, but no smoke. pulled #4 injector and hooked up the inj. line outside to see it spray. Well, it sprayed...fuel right out of the drain line, good and hard....yikes...I didn't listen to Munchies.. enuf..I'm 180 out...misinterpreted..so back to it...

YOU ALL ARE THE BEST!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! AND JERRY, THANKS FOR HANGING IN THERE WITH ME AND RE-CHECKING THOSE INJECTORS, I AM SURE IT WASN'T NECESSARY, BUT YOU OFFERED ANYWAY. Soon as I get 'em back , I will get on it. All have a great Autumn weekend! Bill ZeusDiesel

Jerry, I have not checked valve lash yet. Will get into the TM and check their procedure. I have checked the procedure for installing the IP, any suggestions for making it go smoothly? I know that's the one where I pull the IP spring to set the timing. As mentioned in this thread recently, I...

Injectors are out and on their way to Jerry for a test. I took advantage of their absence and lit up the glow plugs a little and checked them with the laser thermom. The glowplugs are doing just fine. Also took JIMC suggestion and ran about a quart of fuel through the fuel supply line from the...

Thanks, JIMC. I will do that tomorrow when I am done pulling the injectors. ZeusDiesel

Wednesday Morning: Pumps off (think they could have made it a little tighter to get to those mount bolts?) Sending message to Jerry. Go clean up the work bench. ZeusDiesel

Thanks, Jerry. Hope to get started on it quickly. Gotta make room on my work bench. Bill

Well, I will next check the procedure in the TM for pulling the IP. Not quite sure what I will be looking for when I do pull it, but that has not stopped me in the past. ZeusDiesel

Monday morning, 10:30 EDT: Just pulled injector #4, reconnected fuel line, cranked, fuel pumped out of drain port but nothing from nozzle, tried twice. ZeusDiesel

I guess I will have to find the easiest one to pull, arrange the fuel line, prime it and crank away. Thought I would put a cut off plastic water bottle over the nozzle to see what kind of spray pattern there is. ZeusDiesel

Ok, I have the batteries back and hooked up, primed, did the preheat, cranked it for 15 seconds, no smoke. Then cracked each fuel line at the injector, cranked it until fuel flowed, everything tight. Then based on earlier thread suggestion, I opened up both rocker box covers, plenty of...

I didn't realize it was brown. The algecide was recommended by an excavation man I know and I have been using it in my storage tank for the past year and a half. I guess this low-sulfur stuff is especially prone to it.

ZeusDiesel Update: After all the pumping and priming and cranking the batteries were getting a little tired, so I have them on a slow trickle charge, will be available Sat morning. Did want to make an observation on the transfer pumps: the gen has 3400 hrs on it and I saw no indication (paint...

Thank you for all your inputs. I took Ike's advice and removed the base of the transfer pumps, pulled and cleaned the filter in fresh diesel and cleaned up and reversed the gasket. Then bled the system from the pumps, the filters. Ran out of daylight, but I have to say the pumps sound better and...

I have noticed that whereas the "auxillary tank" pump runs full tilt on prime, the "prime and start" pump bogs down immediately, just kinda clicks along. I disconnected the injector line on #1 injector, and turn on the primer, but get nothing out of the line, hand rotate the crank, still...
