M939A2 CTIS Front/ Rear Wheel Air Seals - manual glitch?

I've had to deal with a number of M923 family hubs already and not *one* of those nuts has ever been torqued properly. In fact, one of my non-CTIS trucks had an inner oil seal failure rear which looked like it happened because the hub nut wasn't torqued properly (i.e. not enough torque) which...

M939A2 CTIS Front/ Rear Wheel Air Seals - manual glitch?

So, just going through the 5000-plus pages of the c.2012 maint manuals and parts books, and there's an anomaly. In the maint. manual it indicates that there are two different air seals with two different part numbers at each hub. When you go to the parts manual set, it says that the air seals...

radio set up for a m1009?

Mostly they had VRC-12 series radios and *sometimes* an additional HF radio. Some were also rigged VRC-97/ MSE evidently, but...I've never seen one. Installation kits were produced for the installation of the RT-1439 Gen I SINCGARS radios, but again - never saw one in person. Most people...

    Hmmwv: Rt 524/vrc + r 442/vrc

I think the RT-246/524 sets will take a continuous VSWR of 4.0 without blowing up (though I wouldn't recommend it), where the AS-3900A's worst match is, I think, 2.5 - 3.0 - but it's been awhile.

    rt176/prc10 problems

There are a lot of variables and without some basic test equipment you'll chase your tail. What are you using for an antenna on the PRC-10? Long, short - or something hooked up to the BNC connector? Without at least a wattmeter you're not going to know if the PRC-10 is outputting anything...

    WANTED: WORKING RT 524 radio

Another vote for Pvt. Jarhead. Great prices. Great gear. No complaints heard in any forum anywhere, or via word-of-mouth. Mike Murphy also has them close to the bottom of this page, and Mike is also great to deal with: http://www.murphyjunk.net/u-s-issue-communications-equipment-and-related-items

What did I just buy??? S-711 Shelter???

I know this is a two year old post, and someone touched on it with "basically a ham radio" but the TRC-179 Regency Net 'Force Terminal' setup was much more than that. They had these systems in duece-mounted shelters and the 'Team Terminal' component which would be dismountable, and typically...

I built a new battery pack for 175a/prc-9

Also, Fair Radio Sales still has a bunch of bits and pieces for the PRC-8,-9 and -10. The AM-427/U cans are actually IF amplifiers and not capacitors. Sometimes they're sold by lot on Ebay - in fact, I think there's an auction running now. I haven't played with them for awhile now but I...

I built a new battery pack for 175a/prc-9

There are lots of solid state power supplies around for these radios that synthesize everything you need from a single 12V source, and the British, Canadian and French armies all made their own types. A company called 'TNM Enterprises' also made battery adapters for them which would slide into...

    VIC 12 pro's, cons

The setup with the R-442 also lets you work with repeaters, which of course receive on one frequency and transmit on another ("input" and "output" frequencies.) The way you usually set it up is have a bunch of vehicles transmitting on 52.0 and receiving on 54.0 - then you have a repeater on a...

    RT524, Vic 1 & H161 headsets hear massive interference

Those strobe setups are horrible causes of interference. Seen it a lot in police cars. If it's in the VIC-1 audio as well there's a good chance it's coming up the power leads like old-school ignition noise, and where normally I'd say head on down to Radio Shack for an ignition noise suppressor...

    VIC 12 pro's, cons

They do indeed look cool and, as mentioned, you can listen to something else while transmitting/ receiving on the RT-524 or 246. Just *don't* transmit on the RT-524/246 and have your R-442 tuned to the same frequency in the same vehicle. Plus, if your RT-524/246 ever develops a receiver fault...

testing the PRC-25 and PRC-77 radios

Very generally...no. They're pretty hardy sets, and usually if they work on air - they work. Just make sure you have a good battery. I would say every BA-386/ BA-4386 out there is now worthless even if the E-place auction says "Brand New!" or whatever, so you'll need one of Brooke's battery...

Just bought a Sincgars 1523B...need some install help.

Every time I talk about work on forums I have my @$$ in a sling for talking too much when I'm not supposed to :), so all I can say is "a bunch of current and past TV series and some feature films." What's really irritating is you can get them the correct radio for whatever scenario they're...

    radio question from newb

Taking the time to become a licensed amateur also keeps the amateur radio hobby alive, and helps thwart various legislative and governmental bodies in their attempts to try and take our spectrum away. :(

Just bought a Sincgars 1523B...need some install help.

I have a dozen of those as well for film work. All they were meant to do is take keyboard input and send it to a central computer in a school setting, then the central computer would return simulated audio and generate a display. Without the central computer hooked up to that thing you...

Whats the best PRC radio for vehicle mounting.

PRC-174 you mean? Heavy Tadiran-produced HF pack and vehicle set used by the Israelis but nobody else to my knowledge. Apparently built to withstand a fall from the top of Masada, but unless you're doing an IDF truck up - don't think it would be appropriate.
