    Master Cylinder Bad?

I'd say most likely from the brake cleaner. It's hard on a lot of different plastics and rubber compounds.

    Master Cylinder Bad?

Yeah, the cup is swollen. That's why I suggested before to get an overhaul kit even for new old stock master cylinders. I've had a few do this right out of the box. Some even are so bad they completely lock up.

    M35A2 idle surge.

If not, there's certainly parts of it that are worth saving. You could save the block, crank, heads, injection pump, turbo, and rods. Or you could just drop six new piston and liner kits in it with a few new gaskets and have a good spare engine.

    Master Cylinder Bad?

I know it's a NOS master cylinder, but heed my advice here; go ahead and order a rebuild kit for it now.. They're getting to the age now where they're hit or miss when you install them, but at least you have a good clean housing with no corrosion or debris anywhere. A fresh overhaul kit and a...

    Airpack Rebuild Complications

Just use a pump sprayer and a 1/4" air hose with a 1/8" NPT nipple. Screw it into the master cylinder cap and bleed it, then attach your external reservoir line and fill that reservoir. I would strongly advise against using a compressed air source other than the hand pumped sprayer to bleed it...

    Hydraulic Head Question

Fyi, you probably won't strip the threads in the hydraulic head by tightening the piss out of the injector lines, but you'll cause the head to develop hairline cracks that leak fuel. I can't prove it, but my opinion is the injector line ferrules do get compressed and fail to seal, maybe not...

What did you do to your deuce this week?

I thought about my deuce today. Think about it every day. I haven't laid eyes on it since June 2023, and hadn't for three years before that. Sure wish the time was right for me to come home. 😕

A3 Disc Brake Conversion - Brackets and Parts

Keith Waligura makes batches of brackets for the rears and provides a list of parts to complete them. His brackets are $75/ axle. Idk if he's on here but he's on Facebook. For front brakes you'd have to figure something else out. They're quite a bit more complicated. Steve from Differential...

    Airpack Rebuild Complications

I honestly can't recall if I took that apart or not either. It's been too long. I want to say I just replaced what I could peel off of the piston and follower but not sure anymore. 🤔

In tank fuel pump substitute for M35

Yeah, pressure requirement is 4-7 psi, but the volume at that pressure is most important. I'm not familiar with the pump you used, but with 3× the required pressure it likely provides enough volume for proper hydraulic head cooling as well. I see a lot of people use little clicker pumps with...

Any Transmission Or Overdrive Swap Recently

I have the Waterloo overdrive and 11.00R20 tires but I haven't changed my differential gears. I may in the future, but it's quite expensive and labor intensive. I could've sworn that Ouverson offered a gear set in the neighborhood of the 5.13 or 5.30 range or something like that. Not sure I want...

In tank fuel pump substitute for M35

Fass makes an inline pump ( just pump, no filter setup) that will support these engines and is 24v. Could easily use that with an A3 pickup tube.

Electric power steering for M35A2 Deuce

Stock box is already a weak point. Putting more input force on it doesn't seem like a great idea. I know others have done this with hydraulic servos, and at least one company offers a kit to do this, but I've never been a fan of this method of power steering on these trucks. Regardless, if...

    FDC Bypass Hose Question

I wouldn't even bother with clear for the small lines. The returns always have air in them no matter what.

    Airpack Rebuild Complications

You couldn't zip the nut off with a good impact like I did? You need a good fast hitting 3/8" gun. A 1/2" gun hits too slow. I'd use rubber cement, or maybe some 3M trim and weatherstrip adhesive for the felt. Don't use silicone. And I would glue the ends. That felt is there to hold and spread...

M35A2 Rear Spring Bearing Block Wear / Repair

The dog bones have very little to do with side to side axle movement. Any excess movement you get comes from either your trunnion bearings/ bushings adjustment or wear, your spring pocket and insert wear ( as G mentioned) and wear on your leaf springs themselves where they contact the spring...

M35A2 Brake master cylinder does not return.

Ver Very nice. Glad you found the issue. Yeah unfortunately age and rubber parts aren't friends.

    FDC Bypass Hose Question

For the record, I've never changed any of the original fittings when installing synflex. BUT.. you do have to get the right compression ferrules, which aren't as long. There's two types of ferrules. One is tapered like a sharp cone on each side with a pronounced rib in the center ( this one...

M35A2 brake upgrade using air brake chamber to push hydraulic master cylinder?

Yeah, that's me in the videos. There's a bolt on maxi type brake chamber that takes the place of the sngle pot pods. If I remember correctly that's why I made the second video, because after the first one a friend sent me a link to them.

    Axles?

So here's a video of my first test drive after my Cummins swap. Bear in mind I also have a Waterloo overdrive kit and 11.00R20 G177s installed. I have also GPS verified a top speed of 89-90 mph but I don't have that on video. I don't want to hijack this thread, so this'll be my last post about...
