    Resurrecting 816

While I was repairing the tank switching valve I decided to make a new plate for it. I probably could have just got a new one but now I have a stainless steel one.

    Resurrecting 816

Well thanks to a little side work and a fellow Steel Soldiers member it looks like I might have this running a lot sooner than I thought. Big thanks to Floridanson for hooking me up with the missing radiator, fan and master cylinder. The injector shop I went to is building me the pump I need for...

    Resurrecting 816

kubotaman The TM calls it a VS governor. I spoke with a guy at a local injector shop and he said the pump is considered a dual governor pump and that the second governor can't be added to a single governor pump.

    Resurrecting 816

Thanks for the pics fasttruck now I know what to look for. The TM made it hard to tell the difference in the two fuel pumps. I think what I need is to find someone local with an 816 that would be willing to let me crawl around under it to see what all is missing from my truck and how every thing...

    Resurrecting 816

Fasttruck it might not be that the bell housing is different just the cross shaft. Oshkosh equipment has a long cross shaft in the parts section for the 816. They have the air cylinder as well but not the linkage.

    Resurrecting 816

Thanks for the pic now at least I know what to look for. I noticed the fuel pump was different when I looked in the tech manual. I need a fuel pump as the one I got with the engine is bad. What's the main difference in the normal pump to the crane pump?

    Resurrecting 816

Fasttruck Nope I have the wrong one. It's from a dump truck. I didn't even know there was a difference. I'll be happy if I can get it up and running for now and I'll be on the look out for a crane bell housing. Thanks for the heads up.

    Resurrecting 816

So I'm a gluten for punishment or I just can't stand to see good old Iron go to the salvage yard. Probably a little of both. I purchased an 816 that was in a bad way a few months back and I had thought what am I doing I haven't finished my 108 crane yet and now I'm starting on a bigger one. I...

    Ramsey PTO identification

Has anyone ever seen a PTO like this one? I've searched the internet and found no info on it. It's bolted to the back of a standard deuce sprag transfer case. It has a Ramsey tag on it but searching the model number yields no results.

What did you do to your deuce this week?

Over the weekend I used one crane to move another crane to mow.

    Dead Pilot's M36a2 Build

Sorry to hear about your brakes going out. Glad no one was hurt other than the truck. I just fixed the brakes on my M108 and went for a drive in the yard and the brakes went out pretty quick. Luckily there was nothing around so I just let it coast to a stop. Crawled under it and found the left...

    Resurrecting an M108

Finally got around to fixing the hydraulic line that got a pin hole in it. Had a new one made at a local hydraulic shop. Also got the brakes working some. In all the line switching one of the lines got left loose and all the fluid was escaping. I got them bleed some but I think it needs to be...

M109 doesn't know how to quit.

It's hard to kill a 12 valve cummins. I'm putting a 3.9 cummins in a 72 chevy pickup with my dad. I love to hear old diesel engines rattle.
