Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

Up date... So, I took it to an Allison trans shop and they said its not the trans. The pressure build up is in the transfer case that is over flowing into the trans for some reason because the vents are connected. They said they can disconnect the vent from the trans and that should solve the...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

I did that and completely drained it. I didn't flush the lines. And it still did it. I also put it in all the gears before checking the level. It doesn't look like any other fluid is mixing. But the fluid looks like the torque converter is foaming the fluid as someone suggested to me. The other...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

Then I disconnected every line (and left it open) going to the 4 way intersection except the short line just above the motor. And, that still didn't help. So its getting air from somewhere. I just don't know where it's getting pressure from. I looked up and posted on those threads already in...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

Tow4...I opened the glad hands and it seemed to prevent the over pressuring and the oil doesn't spit out any more even when I shut it down. Prior to doing this I tried to dis connect all the lines at the point where the fording lever attaches to all the hoses in the picture. The only thing I...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

I finally got to work on my truck and blocking the fording kit. There are only 2 hoses that seem to be on a ball valve connected to the lever inside the cab. So, I added my own ball valve to those hoses. It turns out that one of the hoses is just a drain and the other goes to the horn. I started...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

I'll be home Monday and I plan on putting a ball valve on the fording kit. Then I'll shut that off to see if it still forces air out of the dip stick. If not I'll check the level and drive it to the trans shop. If that doesn't work I'll leave the dip stick out and drive it to the trans shop...

I agree...just need to find someone to tow it or come and fix it. Would rather have someone come and change the trans filters and fluid.

If I knew how to I would but I don't want to risk ruining the trans. I figure it's better to spend a little extra to get it done right.

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

The fording kit is zip tied closed but I cant tell if it is still sending pressure. And, I don't know how to tell. When it gets up to temp and I shut it off it starts to over flow then spit up oil from the trans. I tried draining some from the pan and filling it up but cant seem to get the right...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

This will be down all side roads. top speed will be about 30 to 35 mph EDIT Reason for tow is that I added fluid to the trans and over filled it. Don't want to drive it until its changed

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

The trans fill tube/dip stick tube spits trans fluid up and there is air pressure building up. I'm not sure if that's because I overfilled it but it does spit up.

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

When I first got the truck it had oil leaking into the air box. So, I disconnected all 3 ports (from t-case, trans and fuel I believe) going into the air box and let them drain through tubing off to the side. The one of the hoses has air blasting out of it when I let go of the brakes and one...

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923... Even though my fording kit is in the off position I still think its pressurizing the trans and T case.. How do you plug it up so it doesn't pressurize? Has anyone don it to their truck?

Disconnecting the fording kit on a M923...

Need a tow to the next town over in Central FL Need a tow for my M923 from the north part of Lakeland FL to Mulberry FL. I have tow bars and the ride is about 20 to 25 miles. Let me know how much you would need. EDIT Reason for tow is that I added fluid to the trans and over filled it. Don't...

OK did that and no oil was on stick. ran it in gears while parked. opened to check and it was smoking. shut it down added 2 quarts. was still low. added another 2 quarts and now it is over flowing from the dipstick. Not draining from over fill port and pressure builds up. I'm thinking its my...

OK. So, everything should be done with the motor running even checking the level?
