Denton, NC rally set for April 11-13, 2014

I'm toying with coming up Friday night, I still need to convince the wife though... We're definitely coming up Saturday morning. I'll probably be bringing a few odds and ends to see if anything sells. I'm getting excited!

    Antique registration in nc

Be careful registering a Deuce as an antique and not putting weighted tags on it... Technically you're supposed to have weighted tags as well as a IFTA fuel tax decal, otherwise if you get pulled over by a DOT guy or a highway patrol, they will more than likely slap you with a hefty fine for...

Denton, NC rally set for April 11-13, 2014

Oh c'mon, get out there and drive it! On a side note, I'm going to see if anybody else in this area that hasn't posted to this thread is coming. I'll post up if I get anybody else to add to the head count.

Denton, NC rally set for April 11-13, 2014

We'll be coming up either Friday night or Saturday morning. Unfortunately it's not looking like we're going to be in a MV... 2 out of 3 trucks aren't drivable, and our '76's airpack is hissing out brake fluid. It's not bad, but it's enough to make me nervous about driving it up there :-(. Either...

what all is needed when replacing engine rear main seal

If you have the money, I'd go ahead and do all the clutch components. It would suck to have all that apart, put it back together, and then the clutch go out on you in a few months, especially if its soaked with oil. Whenever we do them at work, we always recommend doing a clutch kit. It's well...

    Another air pressure thread.

Honestly, with a leak of that size, you should be able to hear it leaking. I'd get the air system fully charged and then shut the truck down and just listen for a leak. If you have no luck there, then result to soapy water.

    Accident ?

I'd definitely try and get it straightened out while you have everything out of the frame, now would be the easiest/best time to do it.

    What's you favorite upgrade?

My wife is almost just as into MV's as I am. She wants her own truck (a M37), and she helps me with work on ours. She was packing bearings and cleaning parts when I was servicing the front axle. She also loves going on recoveries too. It's been great not having to explain why I want/need this...

    Nylon Radiator Fan?

I'm probably going to order one at some point, just not high on the priority list at the moment. I agree about the electric fan issue, if anybody read the recovery thread of our second truck, you'll see why I probably won't get an electric fan (alternator dumped out on me, and it completely...

    M275 Towing Pics

Ah, that makes more sense. I have 11x20's on our '76 and that sounds about right. I couldn't tell from the pictures if they were 11's or not, it kind of looked like it but I wasn't sure.

    M275 Towing Pics

Those look like 9x20 tires from what I can tell in the pictures (then again, they could be 11x20), so unless he has an OD gear, I'd tend to think that's a bit ambitious myself...

    PLEASE Assist with parking brake

I'd call Jim Henry before driving out there. I would imagine he'll have the parts needed, but it would suck to drive out there for no reason. If you have no luck with him try calling White Owl, www.whiteowl.com.

Controlling Hi/Low Range and Front Axle Lock From a Shift Knob

To start, this is solely my opinion based on my use of my trucks. That being said: Sounds like a good idea in theory. I think it might get overly complicated once you really start diving into the project. That's a lot of air lines and potentially a lot of headache if things start acting...

    What's you favorite upgrade?

I haven't gotten around to installing most of the upgrades we have for our trucks yet. But from driving on 9x20 to 11x20 tires, I would say having bigger tires is a huge improvement. I'm just looking forward to getting the 395's installed and getting the remote reservoir hooked up also. If I end...

    Normal top speed for Deuce

For reference on tire size to speed: On our '67 (which has 9x20 tires) when we were on the way back from recovering it, the speedo was averaging around 48-52mph on flat ground (at around 2000-2400rpm). My wife who was the chase car said that I was averaging around 50-55mph according to the...

    Normal top speed for Deuce

I should add that's keeping the RPM's at safe sustained levels. Also, download a speedometer app on your phone and check it with that. These speedometers aren't the most accurate in the world.

    Normal top speed for Deuce

Fuel isn't going to get you faster than that, 50-55mph is the top speed for a Deuce unless you put bigger tires on it or an OD gear in it. At that speed you're limited by gear ratios, not fuel.

    New brake shoes or not?

Theoretically yes. Its really hard to say. It could have been that the right side was braking harder than it was supposed to (not likely), or it could have been that the left side was braking less than it should have. Or a combo of both. I'd put my money on the left side being the issue with not...

Going to look at a deuce

That's exactly why when I go in to do something on these trucks I replace everything within reason. It's not like a car where you can pull the wheel off and have access to everything in a couple minutes, or if once you pull the drum off and see a bad part you can run down the street and grab...

Going to look at a deuce

Looks like a pretty nice truck, and the price seems very fair. As far as the front boots are concerned, if they're starting to "seep", I'll be willing to bet if you poked them they would be extremely soft. You might want to go ahead and plan for replacing them with 1 piece boots. When we got...
