On my uncles deuce he installed on to assist the parking brake and in theory it could have been used to isolate the back, that way you could get duel use out of it
you could always throw a little bit of heat at it to, i soaked mine with free then heated it right before i took it off. I think at some point mine was way overtourqed on there
i just removed one the other day. i had my brother hold the flange with a 18 inch pipe wrench with a cheater and i used a 3/4 inch breaker bar with a cheater and still just got it.
if any one from the east side is going up and has a little room, im trying to get a motor and trans to reo 54. I will not be able to make it due to conflicting training schedules but would be willing to compensate someone for the effort.
I have never had luck finding rebuild kits for them. If you go to a local starter and alternator rebuild shop they will usually sell you the parts they can get for it if you want to do it yourself. And from what i have seen they parts to rebuild them come to about half the price for a new one...
When you tore the carb apart did you blow all the channels out with compressed air and clean everything real well. The first couple i rebuilt acted funny because i was cleaning them with a rag and it would leave little fibers in the wrong places
I have some on the top of my main holding barrel and all the oil is poured over them before it goes in. You will be surprised what they catch. I have never thought to put them on the filter, great idea
