The SD Brazo's came with the 6.7 Cummins and Allison trans so that option would definitely work. Is the 8.3 a completely different engine or is it dimensionally close to the 6.7?
I have a build thread going over at Expedition Portal... with almost the same name as this thread.

The Hi-Lo brand campers use a single hydraulic ram to pull 4 cables. Works good and not much to go wrong. It uses gravity to retract so if something does get in the way it's really easy to just hit the up button to go back up.
I was just reading through the Membership Contract and it says "There will be a price cap of $300 on RV calls" at the end of the RV section. I'm not saying the service is a bad deal overall but I thought it was worth mentioning.
I just drained it from the bottom of the radiator. Easy that way because it drains straight down vs the block plug which would shoot the coolant sideways.
My suggestion would be to skip the auctions and buy one from a private seller. Find one that has been serviced and had some miles put on it. Yes it will cost more up front but worth it in the end.
It's the best upgrade I've made and you won't notice a difference on the bottom end. Still plenty of torque. I was hesitant to do the swap myself but once I got into it it really wasn't that bad. The hardest part was dealing with the crusty U joints.
Slightly on topic.... I made a new warning light panel out of laser etched plastic but the lamps get so hot it warps it. It still functions great and I'm beyond the point of worrying about it melting or catching fire but it sure would be nice to swap to LEDs.
Not sure who has gears but here's a thread about the speedo. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?173032-A0-High-Speed-Gears-Speedometer-Dip-Switch-Adjustment
That's very helpful. So based on the chart the stock LMTV speedo is set at 0010011010 which is 34754-35180 pulses per minute. In my truck 50mph on the speedo is about 63mph +/- on the GPS which is a 26% gain. Does that mean we should program in a 26% lower pulses per minute which is roughly...
Couple of things seem weird. I don't think your truck should be able to be switched into D before it's started. I know mine won't. And the fact it starts when in D must mean your neutral safety switch isn't working.
