    Almost Bought M1008. Some Questions

Welcome to the site! If in the future you're doing this again, don't tell uhaul what you're putting on that trailer. The truck should fit. I had a 1970 K20 on one with no issues and towed it over 6 hrs. That was with a 3/4 ton truck though. The only issue I had is, it had big tires on it...

Why are CUCV prices so much higher that Civi Chevs

Looks like a good truck. Watch your show quite a bit. My family is from AK and I have not been to Tanana, but have been stranded on the river, overnight, just up stream from Manley. If you haven't already, get that intake covered up to keep as much dust out as possible until you find a setup...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

That's what I was trying to do with the two horns someone else gave me. I had the A & F toned horns from a 78 chevy, but they were in rough shape. This is really interesting and sounds good. Did you set them up so they work off your horn button, or a separate button? Do you have a video of...

    m1008 body mount replacement

You don't have any broken leafs? Like said above, there are no body mounts for the bed, just rubber pads between the frame and bed and then bolted down. I'd crawl around under there and look for anything out of whack, take some measurements as also stated. Oh and welcome

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Great pics Sgt! My daughter is the same age (this pic is a bit old) and she loves the m1008. She calls it bah-boom. Is it the slide in type that push in between the glass and seals? :goodjob: My son is 13 and loves the truck, he seems to be under the impression he'll be driving it to...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Shouldn't be hard to find. I highly recommend the HD wix filter with the poly wrap. Rock Auto has them for less than $20. I do NOT recommend the Delco filter. I bought it and it's junk. The poly wrap was not nearly as quality as the one on the wix I took off and the other day it fell apart...

    CUCV High Rev when started?

Do a search on that, many threads cover the spin on filters and welcome to the site!

    24087'd the deuce this week!

I know this is an old thread, and it doesn't look like you've been on here in a while, but if you're still around and have the truck I'd love to see it sometime. I'm considering this color for my 1008 instead of 383, but haven't decided. I was down at the square last Saturday night with the...

M1008 700r4 swap, gauge install, misc. repairs

Thanks for the offer. I'd take you up on it, but I've been home with my sick daughter the last couple of days. I do need to get up there soon though, my aunt that lives down the road from you was kicked by a horse and shattered her leg, need to come visit and check on them. If I make it up...

Transmission shift points very high RPM's-86 m1009

Ok, it wasn't shifting good still, so I removed that piece and just went direct. FYI, the line from the vacuum actuator goes to the bottom, the short one that connects to the hard line goes on top. Shifts good now.

Transmission shift points very high RPM's-86 m1009

I wondered if there was a reason for that special connection and why I couldn't just direct connect the two individually?

Transmission shift points very high RPM's-86 m1009

I'm replacing my old dry rotted lines today as well. Couldn't find this vacuum piece at my local parts store. Any idea's what it's called and where to get one?

M1008 700r4 swap, gauge install, misc. repairs

I really wanted to do the NV4500 swap, but finding all the parts, pedals, and then having a shifter smacking my daughter's car seat when she's in there with us is making the 700 swap more likely. You're actually only a few hours north of me and I have a lot of family in your area. I found your...

M1008 700r4 swap, gauge install, misc. repairs

Great thread Jeff! Paul, Pulling a small trailer with ATV's, at highway speeds, you might not get the best use out of that setup. The 6.2 probably doesn't have the umph to maintain OD gear without frequently shifting to 3rd. 3rd gear is the same 1:1 at 3rd in your TH400 and if it is shifting...

    Weird noise while driving

So it doesn't do it while you're in the driveway in neutral holding those rpm's? It must be something that moves while the vehicle is moving. Could be in the trans or t-case....not sure what else. My guess would be in the torque converter if all the other things checked out.

new to me truck-have a few questions.

And you're correct, that plug is a diagnostic port. Are you sure the oil is from a leaking oil cooler and not something wrong in the engine itself? Check the oil and see if it has coolant, make sure you don't have a bad head gasket. Welcome

    CUCV at the car show

No worries, I was having a really hard time getting that thread to post correctly anyways so it's not what I originally started with. The HTML wasn't working along with any of the thread options.

    CUCV at the car show

Nice setup! I think I will drag the seats and bows out for the next one. I've considered using it to pull our Boy Scout Troop trailer in the parade and letting some of the boys ride in the troop seats. Have to put a hitch on the truck first.
