Hi all. My Dodge is not as happy with hot starts as she is with cold starting. When she has been running for a while and got up to running temperature if you stop her she takes a fair amount of cranking before she will fire up again. If you leave her to cool for a good period or say overnight...

My Zil 131 will do 75 downhill. Not an experience for the feint of heart though lol....

Well it is fixed now . The spring that positions the brush to the slip ring had worn through it's insulation grounding out to the metal part of the steering wheel. So I made an insulated insert for a spring seat, reassembled it and she now works perfectly.

The horn sounds permanently though Dave !!!

You guys are the business !!! I got the horn push out now. I have removed the switch and unplugged the wires but the horn is still on. She must have a short somewhere ...

Hi guys. Does anybody know how to remove the horn push on a 715 ? the horn is stuck on and I have pulled the wires off to silence it !!! I don't want to damage the horn push or steering wheel because replacement will be impossible here in England. Any ideas ????

She is an amazing starter, even in the coldest weather she will fire up before the engine has turned one revolution...

Yes Rory. I am rather pleased with her performance. Is it true that during the first gulf war the Dodge was deemed to have better performance than the Chevy and larger commercially available rims and tires were fitted in the field. I have seen a couple of photos of M880s with gun mounts and M60...

Had her on the motorway (freeway) and she goes pretty well. 85 mph and more left !!!!

That is what I wanted to hear bro. The Dodge is awful without power steering !!!!

Another stupid question but will a '77 W300 dually steering box fit and do the trick ? A guy 200 miles from me is breaking a Dodge W300 airport fire tender and I can have the steering box, pump and pipes etc for a very good price. But will it work ????

I think I am just going to have to stump up and buy some new 16" rims for the old girl. I can get some made by a company called Wheel Vintiques which look exactly like the originals but are 8jx16" rims with a zero offset. This should mean that the rim outer edge is 4" from the hub mounting face...

Horn location anyone ????

Indeed. The thing with ebay is that it is based on trust and unfortunately there are a lot of untrustworthy people about. She isn't a horror but if I had been selling her I would have made sure to list and photograph the bad parts. As it is I would have valued her about $1000 less than I paid.

They both have round headlamps I suppose.....

Hi Dan. There were no additional charges incurred. went 'missing' for 6 weeks and mysteriously just turned up in Liverpool docks. She is pretty good really for a 40 year old but there is more rust than I was led to believe. The wipers didn't work, parking brake seized no horn no washers tailgate...

Well she turned up in Liverpool. The vehicle that would not engage gear turned out to be a 1975 Triumph TR6. Somehow they mixed them up.....
