I agree on that, I had a spare pump from a truck we had that broke the block that I was going to use, but it got tossed by someone thinking it was trash, grrrr. It would have been great to rebuild as a learning unit.

I've got a 6.2 daily driver well over 200k miles, and the pump is just starting to get soft, and every now and then it acts up and won't idle well, and on the freeway every now and then it runs on for a half second after I pull off the throttle. But it has been rock solid for ten years.

Is this common with these pumps?

Hey Rockafellar, I noticed that my reply to the last question about the oil in your air and wondered if you got it or it went into the abyss. The air compressor is fed by the engines oil system, and if it pushed into the air system you would find it everywhere. gear oil is another thing.

Woa, thats a strange one, it's an air line, are you sure it's not oil from the compressor? Or is it bleeding from the non pressure side coming from the t case?

GOT IT! thanks to the info here and studying the diagrams in the TM, I disconnected the air jumper from the tee on the frame to the selector valve as mentioned in this post, and left only the cab valve line attached and poof... All good, the lock out button on the hi lo lever is still a bit...
