Genneral Questions about CUCVs, still trying to get one!

Hey Loco, Being a parent I can give you this info, I bought a M1009 for my boy's first set of wheels. A M1009 is an inexpensive vehicle. It is rather rugged. The 6.2 gets better fuel milage then a 350 in the same vehicle could ever dream of {now if fuel prices would equal out like they...

Out of the blue mine started to do the same, bake the starter relay under the dash. After spending a hour of chasing all off the wires involved, removing, testing, and reinstalling the starter, we pulled, cleaned and reinstalled the battery cables and...ta da... no more problem. Good luck, Lew VB

Why aren't Korean era deuces as popular as others?

My bro has a m3 halftrack that was rebuilt in the '50s as a M16A1. He painted with the Semi Gloss and lettered it in the M16A1 lettering that he found on it. Man, that semi does scratch easy, he is always fussing with trying to get marks out od the paint. We also have the VN semi gloss on our...

No lights, turn sign ,brake lights or Head lights.

First get a wiring diagram in hand. Check and see if you have voltage to the fuse box. If not, then unplug the plug on the engine side and see if you have voltage. If you have voltage in the plug and not in the box, there is a good chance that you have a bad wire in the fuse box assy where...

    alts not charging

OK here is where the GEN2 light circut goes according to the wiring diagram; It starts at the 24v fuse on the fuse box under the dash. An orange wire runs from the fuse box to the instrument panel plug. Inst. plug to the bulb and back to the plug. A brown/red wire runs from the plug to the...

    alts not charging

Now that Gen 1 light is on are you getting the DS alt kicking out 12 volts {charging the front bat}? I would be curious if you have voltage on the brown and red wire at the PS alt. The battery guy told me that the red wire is looking to see if there is battery voltage {should be 12v} and the...

    alts not charging

:? So...Let me see if I got this right... They got rid of the resistor on the bulb that makes the alt work, so that if guy doesn't notice that bulb is burnt out, the alternators won't work as to make the batteries go dead, so it will help him realize the the alternators are not charging the...

    alts not charging

CHANGE THE GEN 1 and GEN2 dash warning bulbs. This sounds TOTALLY stupid, but I had the same problem TODAY and spent all morning trying to fix it. 1 hour looking through the trouble shooting and wiring diagram prortion of the manual, 2 trips to NAPA, a stop at the local battery shop to test the...

New Deuce Owner With Front Axle Drive Question

It sounds to me like you have a spauge set up w/o the air shift. With those the back tires have to spin before the front will engage. When we were at Grayling some years back the 2 other deuces there had sprauge transfers and they had a heck of a time in the sand because once they started to...

    defense and safety while traveling

I know how much it sucks to go to Chicago unarmed, I went to South Elgin to pick up my son's M1009. I hated the fact the the 1911 was back home. As for the free ride down town, It actually cost thousands in lawyers fees for those people to get it all straightned out. Plus the one horror...

    defense and safety while traveling

KC, I hate to say he would be SOL by going to Chicago. Because his destination is Chicago, he would not be able to use your defence. You can only use it if you are passing though, from St Louis to Indy, for example. People have been busted on the east coast because they traveled to NY to...

Back some years ago the Fire Dept I was on got an 880 from the DNR for a brush truck. None of the lights worked right {Even using the 3 lever switch correctly}. I did a bunch of hunting around including a stop off at the NG armory {back b4 9-11 when you could just walk in and wander around...

    "Horton" complete (M1009)

It looks like there are openable side windows on the back, what are they and where did you get them? I would like to set something up on my sons to get more air flow in the back seating area, the air gets pretty warm and stagnant while cruising down the road.

Advice on purchasing either a M113 or an M114

I've trailered a 10-12,000 lb firetruck behind my duece and it went very well. Pulled good, stopped good. You just have to understand , like every other heavy vehicle, your 0-60 and 60-0 times are longer then they would be empty. Using that expierence, a 114 would be do able {I'm thinking...
