    M715 Tornado survivor

I will post some pictures tomorrow but I just had to share my M715 story with all of you. I have a '67 with CUCV axles, NP205, SM465, and a 427 tall deck. Yes, I know the purists hate it but I bought it that way so it is not my fault. My parents were hit by one of the Alabama tornadoes on...

    "Inventing" a "New Multi-Fuel Engine"

Increasing compression is fairly easy............getting the engine to hold up under the higher pressures would be quite an engineering problem. Anything can be done with enough skill and money so I will be watching this thread with interest.

    P A Biodiesel centrifuge

Bulkhead fitting - weld in a half coupling, it works well I wish I had an easy formula for you but sometimes it takes 40% diesel and others it takes %10. The key is to add a little at a time because you will not know if you add too much. I always sample both the WMO and my diesel at ambient...

    P A Biodiesel centrifuge

I have one of these as well and it works great but you have to run multiple passes to really clean the oil. The biggest difference besides cost with the Wolverine centrifuge is that the Dieselcraft style centrifuges are pressure dependent, i.e. the more pressure they receive, the faster they...

M35A3 - North Alabama to Massachusetts

I sold my M35A3 to great guy named Tyler and he is looking for transportation from Phil Campbell, AL 35581 to East Dennis, MA 02641. Anyone interested or know of a good transport company?

    Axle compatibility

Thanks for the information 11Echo. I will take a closer look at the the truck. The seller described it as a 1976 1 ton with a 350 and single rear wheel. I have only seen a bad picture and have not inspected the truck yet. He only wants $900 for the entire truck which is what sparked this thread...

    Axle compatibility

Quick question for the axle experts: What is the difference if any in the axles from a 1976 Chevrolet 1 ton SRW and a M1008? I know gearing, locker, etc. but are these 1976 axles of the same design and type? I am looking to upgrade my M1009 axles and would like to use CUCV axles but I found...

    Headlight Pigtail Wiring

Well I almost have the M1009 roadworthy but I ran into a headlight snag. For whatever reason someone cut my plugs off the ends of the wires but left the headlights in place????????? I bought 2 new pigtails but I am not sure which wire goes where. I have reviewed the TM - 34 but I am not sure...

Why do people bash the CUCV?

Enjoy your truck. It is on par with any other manufacturers vehicle of the same era. Pickups have an excellent drivetrain and the Blazer is adequate. A Duramax it is not, but it is simple and cheap to work on. What other vehicle has such comprehensive manuals with troubleshooting guides...

My CUCV spin on fuel filter mod

As long as the filter will handle 30 gph it should be good to go. I can't imagine needing more capacity than 30 gph with a 6.2. Filter will take out your water and filter the diesel. Do you have a specific filter in mind?

    M35A3 Title in Alabama

I know someone had reported earlier that you could not title an A3 without an EPA/DOT certification in Alabama but I had a different experience. I got my A3 title this week with no issues whatsoever. Took about 4 weeks to get here but other than that, no problem. Is this just luck or have...

    Glowplugs work without Control Module

OK, my glowplugs were not working and the wait light was not coming on. I pulled the glowplug module and was getting started on the TM troubleshooting guide. I had a revelation and took a look at the fuse. It was blown. I replaced the fuse and started the truck without the GPM card inserted...

    1984 CUCV M1009 build thread

Nice build and a lot of work. I see that you trimmed the fenders to fit the 37's. Are you planning a lift? I bet hills are rough with the M1009 gearing!

    Info on Diesel Fuels

I just don't have the knowledge to predict that, and no one does because who knows what other crude will be discovered. We know of crude in the ground but we either don't have the technology or the financial drive to get it out of the ground. It is much like all this crude contained in shale...

    Info on Diesel Fuels

I work in the oil industry and for a while worked at the largest crude oil terminal on the gulf coast. First and foremost, everyone on the list uses foreign oil. Unfortunately, the middle east has the cheapest oil to refine. North America has used all of our good crude already. What happens at...

    Battery Tray question

Picked up my M1009 earlier this week and of course it needs batteries. The batteries on it were the type the military uses on 2.5 and 5 tons. I searched and decided to get some group 31 batteries but they will not fit in my tray. I have two pieces of angle welded to my battery trayes that...
