    M35A3 lockout hubs

Please use the search feature of this site. There are bazillions of threads on balancing A3 tires and multiple methods using sheet lead, golfballs, lug nuts, etc. If you have a recently acquired A3, make sure you read all about the change of transmission oil and make sure you service the air...

    Srarting fluid issue?

Check for loose hose clamps on the fuel pump or a cracked hose. If someone was underneath on the passenger side, this is a likely source of problems. It sure sounds like fuel starvation/loss of prime. Those 6.2L Chevy diesels are notorious for fuel and electrical issues.

I hear HAM operators on my computer speakers

Yup, just what Chief says. Likely a CB person operating illegally through a big amp. Any cable on your PC can pick up the very strong signal and the sound card in the PC will detect & amplify so it can be heard on the speakers. Getting rid of this kind of interference is hit and miss. You...

M35A3 - Trans Fluid Flush Question & other Filter Maintenance

Recycling the oil between flushes entirely defeats the purpose of changing to ATF. Doing so keeps your system at only about 40% ATF and the rest motor oil. You want to have 90% ATF.

    A3 air pressure issue

Before doing anything. Try closing the air valve located at the rear of the engine in front of the firewall. It's brass. See if you have the same issues when it's shut. This controls the air supply to the accessories like air assist and engine fan control. Do this before taking things apart...

M35A3 - Trans Fluid Flush Question & other Filter Maintenance

I switched from MO to Napa HD Transmission & Hydraulic fluid. It carries all the Allison & CAT (and every other heavy equipment mfg) ratings and comes in a 5 gal pail. A push-pull hand pump ($15) will very efficiently move fluid from the pail sitting on the passenger side running board up into...

    M35A3 TIRE Size

Please search the posts. The subject of balancing has been discussed to death. Just last week there was a new thread that has all the weight info that was requested as well as how to balance using golf balls and adding extra lug nuts at select positions.

    m35a3 air diagram?

If the CTIS is shut down it shouldn't leak air. There is only 1 heavy duty selenoid valve that lets air into the system. If you think it's leaking, I'll bet it's one of the press fit plastic tubing connectors. The tubing works loose and/or the fittings crack.

M35A3 - Trans Fluid Flush Question & other Filter Maintenance

The system holds 21 qts. A complete pan drain only empties 9 qts. The first refill leaves you with 58% ATF. A second refill leaves you with 82% ATF. The third refill leaves you with 92% ATF. A fourth refill gives you 97% ATF. A fifth refill only takes it to 98.3%, So 4 refills is what's...

    m35a3 air diagram?

The air system is best troubleshot by isolating it as best as possible. The first thing to do is to close the steering assist valve located at the engine firewall near the center of the truck inside the engine compartment. It is a petcock, like a radiator drain, and brass. This will isolate...

    A3 Tire Source

I bit the bullet and did my first two myself. I was in a post discussion about the mounting and updated the document and reposted it. It's actually not so bad if you have the magical tool: Harbor Freight Engine Hoist. The original procedure was a clever use of the engine hoist that really...

    Leaky CTIS on M35A3

The mechanical parts of the system are really simple. The manifold has a series of solenoid operated valves. One is a mass dump valve used to slam the wheel valves shut to isolate each wheel and vent the lines. Another is a fill valve used to pass line in air at 120psi to the manifold. The...

    A3 Tire Source

The grommets (not O rings) that seal the fill stem into the metal rim are the Achilles heel of the wheel system. Many blame the rim outer O rings, but these seldom fail outright. The vast majority of leaky tires (aside from puncture) can be remedied by replacing the rotten grommet. It is...

    A3 Tire Source

The clearance on the rear duals is pretty tight with 395s. Lots of discussion in other posts. It might be ok for a bob-job, but I'd be wary for a original dual rear truck, especially if there was even a remote chance of ever going off-road.

After Months of Research and Looking... We Finally bought an M35A3 Deuce

Read the parallel thread. New replacement tires are at least $600 each. Lots cheaper than a day in ICU or for a funeral. If you replace fronts, you must do the pair. It's really bad to mix tires on the steering axle.

After Months of Research and Looking... We Finally bought an M35A3 Deuce

Congrats. Check the tire date codes before driving. If they're the stock michelins and date back to 1995 or 1996 - beware! These tires, when aged, are notorious for rotting both internally and externally and blowing while underway. A front wheel blowout is a serious hazard and has caused...

    A3 Tire Source

In August I paid $1390.24 for two MPT-81 tires from EI. The truck freight fee to ship from SF to the San Diego freight terminal was $123.96. Add another $127 for the corrupt governor and total was $1641.01 for two brand new tires. One was date coded feb 2011 and the other was apr 2011. The...
