Stretch, If You loose another element in your pre heat tank maybe try a cattle water tank heater. A guy i work with has used one for WVO for years and it will get it to 160-170 deg. in an hour or so.

Put the relay box on today seems to work right. I do not have to flip the master several times to get power. The batterys are down so it would not start ,but I know it is working because before it would stop dead and I would have to flip the master again.

I cut the cover off the relay box and found the solinoid was bad. I replaced it and have yet to weld it up.

So if I have to flip the master switch back and forth a couple times to get power and then loose it when I hit the start button it is most likley the Relay box. Rebuild or replace? Cranetruck, how have the rebuilt relay's been holding up?

You could also have a split worm gear.

Check the check valve on the return side of the head. I found one that had what looked like weed stalks in it and held it open. After you shut it off all the fuel siphoned back to the tank and was a son of a gun to re-start.

There is a company called Startron that makes a biocide/enzyme. It is supposed kill the bacteria and the enzymes dissolve the crud. I have never used it but was told of it. I think he said large ship yards use it.
