MEP831A recoil start, bleed fuel lines

NatCAD, question? i just got a 831 and noted my fuel pump has a noticeable knocking or pulsing sound, seems to be working fine, but not a noise i associate with a good pump. are your new ones quite, smooth sounding? just wondering if mine is "normal" or i might as well get a new pump now...

MEP831A recoil start, bleed fuel lines

kloppk, No i was just happy to get it running better, that is my next step to complete/check the rest of the settings on the controller. I was hesitant to just jump in and start readjusting things till i have a better understanding of the machine and its issues. so I keep reading these threads...

MEP831A recoil start, bleed fuel lines

i just bought a 831a and it did the same thing. runs great on the mechanical governor (called pinned i think) - shut down on the electric governor. so far the "fix" was to follow the tm section 4-14 to adjust the gap and rod length (see fig 4-10 part 22). then i checked the voltage on the...

    electric governor on a MEP-831a

First a thanks to Kurt for hitting the nail on the head in a PM. Pin the set and it runs fine. Now the new issue. my 831A appears to run perfectly on the mechanical governor, starts, takes load, rejects load, no-load etc... perfect as long as I hold the electric governor off. once I let the...

New guy in Tennessee with a couple questions

5 ton fuel tank selector valve cleaning/rebuild

Joesco - I just replaced my fuel filter (m936a1) and had a hard time getting fuel back to the engine. first air leak was at the bolt on the top of the filter - found this as it leaked fuel at first. then my priming pump quit working - and it was the second air leak source (I think). once I...

Oil drip from Front Axle Switch M939-A2 / 927-A2 Transfer Case Problem SOLVED

this is a great post, having just replaced my interlock cylinder this post was a great help, but one minor correction: as stated air pressure keeps the interlock cylinder pushing with sufficient force on the pin/rod to prevent shifting while in gear. the correction is - when air is let off...

    plastic guides on service brakes

well found the answer to my own post. got the new plastic guides and they have a little lip on the inside that allows the guides to only go on one way. so the answer is --- they go on the wedge or wheel end.

    plastic guides on service brakes

Simp5782 thanks for the input, what kind of lube do you recommend at the wedge end, grease?? or I think there is a special lube for the wedges specified in the TMs. By the way I found the parts for sale at oshkosh equipment, just no idea of where they go on the rod.

    plastic guides on service brakes

Question, while replacing my pancakes(diaphragms) on my front brakes (M936) there is a plastic guide that goes on the push rod (part 7 in TM 9-2330-272-34P-1 fig 184). the manuals do not show where it goes on the rod. does it go up near the piston or down near the wheel hub. mine were mangled...
