Hogtruck, just wondering if you run into any problems with clearance or digging in on uphill/downhills approaches? thats going on the assumption that you use your truck for decently aggressive offroading... havent climbed under the M1010 to look to close, but im thinking about mounting my winch...

I wasnt saying "spitting a block" is a common thing, just saying why risk it when there are better options for similar price. and i have seen it happen before tho, usually it is due to a block failure, i.e. cracking, or even shattering into multiple pieces. and your right, alot of factory trucks...

Japickar got it right, just what i was going to say before seeing his post... you keep your same hauling ability, same ride, no worries about spitting out a lift block at the wrong time(is there ever a right time?) and way cheaper than springs...

you can probably get info on that kind of set-up from Sam Winer Motors. one of their main businesses is industrial winch applications, and ive seen literature on similar set-ups in their parts dept.

theres always the weekly gatherings at Winks in Barberton. i havent gone to a cruise-in there for awhile, but people there are always staring at me (or maybe the M1010) when i go to the Giant Eagle that shares the parking lot... if anyone wanted to hit that up, id be willing to join, work...

if your looking for an ultra tough selectable locker, without having to worry about problems with electrical/air compressor malfunctions, look into the cable-actuated Ox Locker... tuff stuff, thinking about one for the front of my M1010 soon...
