    m1009 bodywork begins

yup...TCP global restoration 2105. It's really hard to pick a color from a chip let alone a computer screen chip, so I hope it looks like I want it to...I'll find out tomorrow!

    m1009 bodywork begins

I tried doing a bunch of bodywork when I was a kid...unsuccessfully. In my opinion mechanical work is much easier, a good body guy is like a type of artist!

    m1009 bodywork begins

Got it. My guy is doing a ton of work to the M1009, and I have attached 10 more photos. Final color is on the bottom of the door, which should cover the whole car tomorrow... I'll post more pics then!

    Block Heater

+1 on the timer. I have a heavy duty timer set to turn on at 4am for a 7:30am start and it seems to work fine. And saves a whole bunch of electricity at 600W continuous.

    m1009 bodywork begins

No, it's all good... I'm just getting ready for some flamage but the guys on this site are a whole lot nicer (more mature?) than some of the posters I have seen on other car sites when things don't go according to "their" schedule. In my limited experience the steel soldiers guys are a whole...

    m1009 bodywork begins

I hate to say that I'm painting it a color that I like, but it will be flattened, below. Base coat clear coat, but a flat clear. i'm actually happy to say, but i know that traditionalists wont like it. It will have black trim, bumpers, and grill, and will keep military stencils intact with two...

    m1009 bodywork begins

So the Cucv will change from Desert Sand to Gray. I know, blasphemy. But the bodywork begins, I thought I'd post a few pics...under that flat lurks a sea of dents...

    green seats

Sorry for the Newb questions, but I have done a search and found nothing on this subject. All CUCVs I have seen have reddish brown vinyl seats. Everyone who has seen these remarks that the green seats in my Cucv are very rare. What does this mean? Are they a legit option, a special unit, or...

    New owner saying hello

I am a Cucv noob too but a car nut. I have stopped working on my car after thoroughly establishing that there are a sh+t-ton of people who are far better at it than I... I got sick of paying them to fix my mistakes! Plus it always takes me 3 times longer to do anything and I end up justifying...

    New owner saying hello

One of my batteries was leaking around the seams, so I threw a m31 battery from sears in... marine duty, but only 675 cca. Was this a stupid move? It fit quite well and I figured it was better than dripping acid everywhere. I am starting to have second thoughts about using this as a snow...

    New owner saying hello

It arrived yesterday, will post some pics tomorrow when the sun comes out. Today was dedicated to figuring out a lighted license plate mount for the rear of truck, figuring out the blackout lights and rear window winder (what, there's a key in the middle of the winder that needs to be...

    New owner saying hello

A truck picked it up today, it was about the same cost as flying out and driving back. Plus it saved me a bunch of time. I'll post pics when I get the truck... And then when it turns black.
