New to me MEP-803A doesn't want to start seems to me its not be getting fuel.

All of them have bent guards from fluid draining for demil. I always remove them first thing. makes it easier to check for leaks and belt wear etc. Yes that's the oil shut down switch it should still start because its off but would immediately shut down again after a few seconds without seeing...

MEP-803aclack noise, spontaniously runs roungh during warm up. Injector or lifter?

I have an 803 and I noticed I have a clack noise that is intermittent and when its clacking it drops rpm just a little from 60hz to 59hz. Then it will go away and smooth out. Think its an injector or a lifter? I'm thinking maybe lifter. Sometimes its just on cold start up then goes away another...

    Mep-803A needs replacement engine

I just got an 803 from govplanet said cranked but doesn't start. I assumed fuel issue. when I got it and cranked it fuel was pouring from every hose. So I felt pretty good that it was a fuel issue. But it did sound a little different from the others while cranking. So i fixed all the hoses...

MEP80x Load Meter with Electric Oven Load Bank

If there is enough interest out there, maybe we should star a thread on handy tools/test equipment to get, and, handy things you can make yourself. Yes that would be nice. Basically I've only ever used a Fluke mm with an amp clamp. not sure what else there would be but handy things are always...

Mep 803 running motor home. Bonding strap?

Sounds exactly like what was going on with mine. gauge was inop or spontaneous at best and got overload fault. it was the s8 switch the whole time. As far as grounding and bonding goes bond your panel if you can and run a ground rod by the panel not at the generator. Disconnect the generator...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

Every unit I get I pull the top cover off and look for apprentice marks. Loose wires, corrosion, sabotage and over all condition. Then i load them to 80% @1.0ph resistive heaters for 4 hours, 100% for 1 hour Same 1.0ph then use my variac to see how much she'll suffer till she drops RPM's. If...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

That's what I think too is it just came back from service and was tagged cecom to have that S8 repaired. I'm not doubting the reset is meant to make these things like new. I'm just saying every time i see a unit at auction with a bunch of screws missing from the covers as if someone gave up...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

As you said earlier many units reused old parts from other units being reset just to get them out the door so the parts that "SHOULD" have gotten changed is where my concern comes from.

    MEP-803a overload circuit

This unit is a 2003 and theres only 2000 hours on ithe meter so im thinking s8 is why it was taged cecom, for repair of that OL fault light. I found s8 on ebay for like $140 so worse case scenario i fubar it ill buy a new one. What exactly is "reset" ive been avoiding tier 2 units like the...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

Im using a fluke mm to measure the voltage differential. The volt gauge showd the phenomenon too. Also all three of my units do it. Yes ill be using 2000 grit wet sand paper or even emery cloth. Problem with cycling is its not sweeping the contacts accros each other just opening and closing...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

Update UPDATE Since im inpatient i couldn't wait for the deoxit to come in the mail. Since i have 2 other running units sitting next to it i swapped S8 from another unit. And it worked! Now that its out you can see the contacts are completely visable from the sides of the switch should have...

    MEP-803a overload circuit

Update Update. Looks like it only over loads when its in 120/240 but not when in 3 phase... i cycled the switches a ton that did seam to make a difference on the load gauge. Gues ill check those resistors. In 3 phase Got 100% load on L1 and L3 runs fine all day. Put 100% on L1 and L2 runs fine...
