    M1009, missing mechanical fuel pump

Well the fuel is coming THROUGH the hose for some reason. It's coming through where the zip ties are securing it to the truck. Not being used as clamps. I'm not sure if it's leaking anywhere else but will definatly be replacing the water seperater and the lines. I'm thinking the guy before me...

    M1009, missing mechanical fuel pump

Well I have an unfortunate update. I'm now leaking diesel from the rubber lines the previous owner installed. It only leaks when the key is in the "on" position and the truck isnt running. Once the engine is cranked there's no leak but being as the pump is running as soon as the glow plugs start...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I just finished installing a Dixie horn in my M1009. I mounted the horns to the further most bettery retaning bracket, it's actually a perfect fit and a great sound! Also I adjusted the modulater valve so now I'm shifting correctly.

    M1009 tire size question

Alright, sounds like a good plan to me. I'll get that done this week. I've been driving around for 3 weeks now w/o a front drive shaft being as my forward U-joint fell apart on me when I put the new trasmission and transfer case in. I wanted to replace all of them, not just the one bad one. It'd...

    M1009 tire size question

Then I will stick with a 10.5. With the clay we have around here it's better to run a skinnier tire anyway, actually cuts through to hard dirt instead of getting gummed up and floating on top of the mud. But on this note talking about off roading, does anyone have any tips on how to change your...

    M1009 tire size question

No problem, I'm ging to do my best to try to find a set of used 33"s pretty cheap to see if I like them on the truck. I'll take pics and post on this thread. If any trimming is needed I'll do a complete write up. (although it wouldn't be much anyway). I may go ahead and trim it for the future...

    M1009 tire size question

Is your avatar with the 33"s on stock springs?

    M1009 tire size question

Well I found a set of 33/13.5/15 on craigslist, thats why I was asking about them but I'll mount some 33"s on it and see how they run. If I have any rub I'll trim it. I'll probably need to trim in the long run running 40"s anyway. But retreads, are they as reliable as just getting a set of...

    M1009 tire size question

Right, it's also going to double as a farm truck and need some agressive tred so I don't float off the **** into the lake when it gets muddy. One side it's the watery grave, the other side it's sliding off into a vally and a lot of body damage from t-boneing trees. So that also plays a bit of a...

    M1009 tire size question

Doghead, my intrests haven't changed all that much but o the other thread it was explained to me that in the end it'd be suggested to just do the axle swap after buying a M1008 for parts. It will be a wile before I have the extra $ for that project so for them moment I just need to have a...

    M1009 tire size question

The tires on it right now are over 9 years old. I used to be tech at Goodyear and rule of thumb was never have anything 10 years old on a truck. The composition of the rubber starts to break down and they become rather dangerous. I drive the truck rather regularly and really don't feel like...

    M1009 tire size question

I have an M1009 with 31/10.5/15 tires on it at the moment and am wondering if I can upgrade to a 33" tire without needing to put a lift in. If anyone else has done this I am wondering if theres any rub issues off road or when turning. I really don't want to spend the $ for 33"s then end up...

    M1009 locker issue

Well at the moment I have a TH400 and an NP208 set for me to rebuild so that won't be needed but the spare motor would be nice. It's just in my area I was lucky to find a M1009 in any kind of decent shape let alone any other military vehicle not being charged an arm and a leg for. So if anyone...

    M1009 locker issue

So it's ether the civi blazer axles with a higher gear set to run 36"s or the axles out of an M1008 or mid 80's chevy dully axles for bolt on with a higher lift and 40"s? Couldn't I have the 308's taken out and a higher gear set put in my current set up?

    M1009 locker issue

So if I rob the axles out of an M1008 with D60's then it will already have a detroit in the rear and I'll just need a gov-lock up front? I've been thinking about the hp issue and heard about the sidewinder turbo kit but I'm guessing your suggestion may be a bit more cost effective plus the...

    M1009 locker issue

Also, if I do go with the D60 swap I'll be looking to run at least 40"s on it. I only was going with 36"s because I thought the 10 bolt could take it. If I do go that big I'm guessing I'll need to upgrade the axles and gears in the 60 as well. My goal is to make a great mud rig that has good...

    M1009 locker issue

Thank you for the info. I may switch over to the D60 but wont I still have the same issue as far as finding a locker for them? Are any available with the same lug pattern as the 10 bolt or will I have to buy new wheels as well? I've seen on here about the ford D60's being swaped in as they...

    M1009, missing mechanical fuel pump

Well I bought this M1009 about 7 months ago and have been working out a lot of rather large bugs but seem to have it running correctly now(for the most part at least). The guy I bought it from said he bought it with the mechanical fuel pump not working but instead of replacing it he put in a...

    M1009 locker issue

Alright, I've been on here for about 6 months now and have gained a lot of useful information. But, I have a question that hasn't been fully answered through my searching. I have a M1009 but heard the gov-lock is a POS and really would like to avoid any problems in the future. I've already...
