    M37 Disaster

I can't figure this thread out. 1) I've welded several M37 blocks using cast iron rod. Usually no big deal. You can braze them too. 2) replacing the engine is dirt cheap and can be done in a couple of days. 3) you can stick a 318 in it in about the same amount of time. I see no reason...

Large Engine transplant for M37 ?

P.S., I also installed a KS-22 No-Spin and a set of Warn hubs back around 1965-66. Do you guys think that might be what kept the 318 and the BB from presenting any problems? Most of my time has been off-road in the swamplands of eastern Arkansas. BTW, I kept the 5.83 differentials because I...

Large Engine transplant for M37 ?

Frank, if you Remember Keith's last name, could you let me know, please? Much appreciated, Jim P.S. Nothing wrong with stock. I plan to leave my XM708 stock, though after owning it for 43 years, I'm just now getting around to putting an LU-4 on it (to match the one on my 37). And, I also ran...

Large Engine transplant for M37 ?

I've had a Big Block Chevy in my 37 since about 1969 or 70. It was an easy install that didn't require any cutting or bodywork (did require a bit of pounding on the oilpan). Used it to replace my earlier 318 conversion (done about 1967) because the 318 was a bit shy on torque. I've only had...

    Lu4 winch question

The original Dodge studs are 2-5/16" long The original threaded ends are each 3/4" long. The original unthreaded shoulder is 13/16" long. Dorman 675-046 ten-pack for the side mount brackets will fit. Total stud is 2-1/2" long. The course end threads are 3/4" long. The fine end threads are 1"...

Starting new repower/conversion project w/M56 R2 Crash & Rescue Truck

Two ways to keep it. 1) custom long pilot bushing 2) switch to the long pilot shaft in the transmission. I eventually repowered again to a bb Chevy and an SM465 transmission positioned so that the PTO jackshaft remains in the original location.

Why did you lose the PTO with the 318? I kept my PTO when I installed a 318.

    Sliding rear window

When I built the steel top for my M37, I used the round cornered sliding rear window and frame from an M35. I'd like to do the same for my XM708. Any suggestions on where to find one?
