    Looked at a 1028...

Found a CUCV 1028 locally on Craigslist. Went and looked at it today. This is the first time I've been able to climb all over one so I was pretty excited. Truck was an 84, converted to 12v, disconnected blackout lights, decent firestone tires, and a recent IP. Truck fired up after the light went...

Very interesting way to unload that beast!

    buying my first deuce

Good on you Chief. It is not wise to trespass so that one can day dream. Hopefully you find some use for the truck! 8)

    Peppy Deuce

Wow, I love the visor with the DOT lights and the tints. Is anyone else concerned that revving an old Hercules diesel that hard would be an invitation for blowing a turbo or worse, throwing a rod?

Need infor from Indiana deuce owners

Hmmm, by MV I'm assuming you mean "military vehicle?" Well this is a good idea. Here is what the IC states on it-

Adding a heater shouldn't be a problem. Probably mount a bread truck heater in it if I can find one in 24v. This is a budget project (lol, is that even possible?) so the initial cost of the truck is going to have to stay lower.

Need infor from Indiana deuce owners

Well, I'm quite frankly terrified of going the GL route because you don't know what you are really getting (since I'm a n00b) and the red tape is horrific. I will keep it in mind though.

Need infor from Indiana deuce owners

I checked out C&Cs website, and I like what I see, although his prices are way out of my range. I'm looking around $3500-$4000 for a running, solid truck. His trucks are very clean though. I might give him a call.

Need infor from Indiana deuce owners

I don't want bobbed truck. Must be a turbo diesel multi-fuel, prefer air shift. I'd like to have a winch truck, but I understand those are usually wore out pretty bad. Things I'm less picky on would be preferably a hard-top. I'd take a dump or regular troop bed.

So can anyone point me to a good Hoosier source of these trucks? :lost:

Is there any kind of mileage restriction with the antique plates? Any kind of restriction on hauling for private purposes?

Would this light control work on an M35?

Um, ok? So asking about items found on ebay is prohibited?

Would this light control work on an M35?

Other than the grounding issues, what fails on them? Just cheap soldering?

Wow I had no clue that tags would be that much. The insurance seems very reasonable.

Need infor from Indiana deuce owners

Attention fellow Hoosiers- Part of my research in buying a deuce is on how to properly register and insure it in Indiana. For those of you that did not put antique plates on them, how did you go about it? Not planning on generating revenue with the truck, but would like to haul stone and dirt...

Would this light control work on an M35?

But very cool! I'd keep the old levers as a backup. Robr has a sweet rig.

What kind of electronics does the 6.2/CUCV rely on?

Thanks for the info fellas. I'll be honest, I didn't bother to do a search because I honestly didn't think anyone here thought along the same prep lines I do. Good to know. Anyway, I posted in another thread and was told that while not as fuel-versatile as a deuce, that the 6.2 had some...

What kind of electronics does the 6.2/CUCV rely on?

Ok, this post may come off as a little kookie, but stick with me here. I'm needing to know what kind of electronic systems the CUCV has, such as the glow plug control card, etc. The reason I'm asking is that the main reason for me shopping for a CUCV or deuce is that I want a diesel, 4x4...

    burnt fusable link?

I had a '79 Scottsdale 3/4 4x4. I had the exact same problem (except mine was a gasser, so I don't know about the glow plug card) and I installed a new starter, new fusible links, and never was able to get that truck to turn over again. I ended up selling it because I was sick of dealing with...
