But you should be able to change the axle gearing from a 5.87 to a 4.56, add selectros to the front hubs, put in an NP205 instead of the NP200, upgrade the brakes (remote booster will help), change to a civvy carb, change to electronic points and then get highway speeds (60-65 mph) without...
Ohh, and you'll probably need a new valve cover gasket...they ain't cheap, but I can get them (my cost is $40, your cost from me is $40 + shipping). I found that they're still available in Argentina. They're not that expensive down there, but the shipping to get them here brings the price up...
I can give you a few things you'll need to do since I've been rebuilding my 230 since Feb.
Carburetor over fuelling due to rotted out seals/o-rings/gaskets (modern fuel eats them apart get a modern rebuild kit, not NOS)
Fuel pump leaking fuel into the crank case because of rotted out...
Yup, they did. I actually got ahold of the Kia military division and they said they aren't allowed to produce them for civilian usage. Basically, they won't ship one to the US for a civvy purchase because the US gov won't let them. Kinda sucks...I'd love to have one of those sitting next to...
yeah, paint is still what it was painted by the Idaho Dept. of Land Management. It was a brush firetruck before I got it. Won't be stripped and back to CARC until next summer.

The grenade shift knob would be cool. I got my shift knob from here:
House O' Speed Hot Rod Store Home Page
Just search for "Leasure" (J. Leasure is the maker of the shift knob I got...he makes a bunch of different ones. I also really like the Doughboy one).
Here's a couple other places...
Well, figured I'd put up some pictures of the vietnam skull shift knob installed (I think it looks really good).
I also won an ebay auction for a modern light switch (push button with LED indicators) that I recieved and installed tonight. It's awsome! :) Honestly, so much easier to see what I'm...
Bob,
Please post pics of this. I'm going to be doing the same thing in a couple of weeks and I'd love to see your solution for it. Are you working around the later model air filter or the earlier model top-o-the-carb filter? I was thinking of mounting mine on the passenger side in order to...
can you remove the yolk with the tap in it? If so, soak it in some Ferric Chloride (available from Fry's electronics or other suppliers). It's an acid, so be careful. But it will eat out the tool steel of the tap without damaging the carbon steel.

I have a 1967 M715 winch truck. At some point I'm assuming it was also a radio truck (has the cut-out in the front end for the 100amp rectifier which was used with the 100amp alternator). I don't have a whole lot of information off of it, but here's the serial number:
15983
I'm still...
Well, my M715 is almost back up and running. I've been trying to figure out how to find some information about where it's been. About the only clue I have so far were some live and spent .556 rounds (rattling around in the corners of the cab) which have the same headstamping that was used for...
Well, I've seen the prices they've sold for previously, and the $4500-$5500 range is about right for what they were selling for. On the other hand, people aren't buying a whole lot right now and I've seen deuces sitting for sale for 3-4 months now that are in really good shape (straight, no...
I had a question for the M715 owners on here. I've talked to a number of people now with M715 trucks (two with different engines than the original Tornado straight 6's). Four of the people I talked with said that their trucks would run fine up to 50mph on flat ground but would bog down and...
Well, I've got a couple questions for you. Do you think this would hookup just the same in an M715? And is there a way to get it setup to defrost the window? :D

Also, from Kia's military vehicles page regarding the KM50 series (their deuce and half models):
"All vehicles are equipped with a six cylinder, 236hp diesel engine, a five-speed transmission and two-speed transfer case which transmits power to the front and rear axles"
