NO you cannot use the casting position as a timing reference, every pump is different, that is why it has a timing mark!

The old and new housing has no real bearing on the timing, otherwise they would not have put slots in the mounting holes

Your new pump has timing marks, you should be good to go, I am no expert but I believe the factory may or may not have marked the original pumps, they may have had a different way of doing the initial timing, something to investigate! EDIT, oh yes I forgot, there is a timing mark under the...

Actually that is just about right. You can do a search for doing a 6.5L diesel and there are probably allot of vids out there, hard to explain without visual aids, at least for me, civy/HMMWV same procedure.

I think if you read the rules it says you should not TELL someone to go read the TM ;)

Have you read the TM on replacing the pump?

I don't see a mark on the pump

That is how all the civy Detroits do it, actually it would most likely just flow down the back of the block.

$75 vs 135, dang near pays for the wheel! EDIT: Sorry, almost forgot the o rings did not fit correctly

Ask then what the DOT date is on them, I suppose you are going for "new" tires, also ask them if they were mounted. Unmounted and stored indoors are obviously best. EDIT, also check the prices of there wheels against this option, You would need to mount them though, which I prefer because I try...

I am pretty much in the same boat. Some folks build a plywood platform to fit over the stack, if you have a serious amount of work to do, pop the hood off and lay on your stomach on top of the stack.

Would make a good cell phone mount if it would have fit my phone:(

You don't need the tube, if you can get the plug out just let it drain through the bell housing (back of the block) just make sure it can get out of the bottom of the bell housing, and never drive through 60" of water unless your life depends on it OR you can afford to just trash a HMMWV and buy...

That is a piss poor design IMHO and then for the re-builders to plug it is absurd. If the vehicle must sit outside you may want to put some of the OCD to work on sealing the hood to the cowling to help keep the water out. otherwise the occasional filling of the valley is no big deal if it is...

You can certainly try. if you feel it gets tight enough then it probably will work.

Yes without the pedestal the bolts will go in farther and will likely "take hold", take a close look and the damaged threads should be obvious, unless you gave up before the bolt was all the way in before, caution very little sealer is needed. Try re-assembling it again without sealer, then if...
