M1070(HET) Tractors What are second lives/uses????

My thought would be that the alternative would be to use a civy truck with a "pusher" truck behind it due to the rugged terrain. That would use a lot of carbon based fuel also. Any way you look at it there is always a trade off. Nobody ever had to clean up a wind spill.

M929A2 Dump truck Jake brake question

Since the M915's with the 400 Cummins and Allison automatics have Jakes and they seem to work on them I don't see why they wouldn't work on the 8.3 if there are kits available. If you are pulling a trailer and it has good brakes then it should help hold the whole rig back if you are using them...

    Guntruck gathering xii(12)

I just found this thread.......WOO HOO!!!!! Wreckerman, Elmo D. Possum and Ellie Mae Possum will be there. (even after that ugly incident with an unnamed fat yellow dog). I may bring the "Shagging Waggin" if I can figure out a way to put an air conditioner in it. PB.....is there going to be a...

    M35A2 Front bumper Mods

The steps are a good idea, especially for us old guys with bad knees. You might consider some kind of reverse "DOT bumper" to keep the vehicle from running up and over some nimrod that slammed on the brakes in front of you. For those that don't know a "DOT Bumper" is what they put on the back...

    My M931 with tracks.

Are you going to drive it on paved roads routinely or is basically a field truck that will go on the road occasionally? What is it's intended purpose? How do you install the tracks on the rear? Can you increase tension on the tracks? I see there is no driveshaft between the 2nd and 3d axle...

Driving a 936A2 VS 923A2. Wrecker VS Cargo

There is a thread on here about warming up the 8.3 Cummins. It is possible to get 350+ HP out if it. That being said you still have to account for the driveline. You can damage something if you don't use that power correctly. If you turn it up a pyro is definitely in order especially if you are...

Ozzytrucker requests advice from Stee-Sol members please.

Ozzy, 99.9% percent of the folks on here are good folks and would give you the shirt off their backs and parts for your truck. Here in the South we are known for "Southern Hospitality" but there are friendly folks all over the country. My offer stands, if you want to drink real sweet tea, eat...

What Jim said. The Pima Air Museum is adjacent to the airplane boneyard at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. I don't know if they allow visitors at the boneyard but the Pima is well worth a stop.

If you are traveling east bound on I-20 or I-40 I'm not too far from either. If you want to hang out in Alabama for a day or two we have a spare bunk here at the 'Funny Farm". I have an M927, and I'm babysitting an M936 wrecker. I'm also a rail fan and the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum is...

    Gadsden Alabama First Friday

Friday, March 7th, will be the seasons first "First Friday" in Gadsden. They close off Broad Street and have an pleasant evening out. There is usually a large turnout from the classic car folks. The weather is supposed to be dry and mild so the crowd should be good. I'll be taking the M927 and...

My new to me 1983 M923A1

I have named trucks in the past. My Freightliner was Rachael Dee and the last Peterbuilt I drove was Jessica (the first song I heard on the radio when I picked it up new). I haven't named the M927 yet, something will pop up one day and she'll have a name.
