    runaway engine?

The issue with leaving it running is that some IDIOT might get into it and put it in gear......a 12,000 pound vehicle can commit a lot of mayhem in a parking lot full of sardine cans.......even if you chained the steering wheel someone could still drive it forward or backward. This opens you...

Who From GA. is going to the LA. rally

CARNAC......we will be at Zouts with the dually and trailer....we will be going to Tim's rally too......anything you need forwarded to LA can be put on the trailer then. I think Justin Wering will be at Tim's.....he will be heading back to Texas..I can't remember where his LZ is in Texas.

    Deuce hard tops

In case you missed my additional post the guy did not have M35 hardtops......he had one M211 top that is still in the crate.......he left it with me.....I'm posting it in the classifieds.

    Back from Afghanistan

Welcome back to the World....glad you made it back safe. I beat many a deuce and five ton tire off the rim while in the Army.......I can't still do it but it whips my butt for a few days afterward.......that's why the local tire shop gets a lot of my money.

    Run Away

Ignition requires fuel and air......cut off either one and the engine will die.......In the case of my 250 Cummins that tried to commit suicide the crankcase had filled up with diesel and there was no cutting off the fuel........I managed to get a large towel and stuff it in the air intake which...

    Which engine do I have?

    Which engine do I have?

The starter on an LDS is on the opposite side from an LDT. LDS's were mostly used in the 5 ton trucks although there were some transplanted into deuces either by design or mistake.

?? Starting of in 2nd gear??

I'm a "splitter"......I almost always start in Low Range, 2nd gear......third, fourth, fifth.......back to High Range 4th gear and then up to fifth. It's like having a six speed.......my bobber it would accelerate like a rocket using the split shift.

Who has done a M915A1 Fuel Filter Change

I changed one on my M915 and I assisted Bighurt when we serviced his.......you got the right idea.....just try not to spill too much when you are screwing it back on.

    Find the right Deuce

Learning to drive a deuce is a snap.....I was a Drivers Trainer/Instructor and License Examiner and I put a lot of folks through the duece. If you put it in Low Range it is almost impossible to stall the engine while leaning slow speed manuvers and how to shift gears.......some of the best...

    Armored Deuce

Putting sand in the gap would make more sense to me......with drain holes in the bottom of the armored "sandwich". I'll see your improvised armor plate and raise you two gallons of gas and some improvised fuel thickener.

    Rim Ring Position?

When we mounted them at the Motor Pool the stem was opposite of the gap in the ring.

    Armored Deuce

Given the choice between speed and heavy armor I would take speed.........you can add some bullet resistance but if you are bottoned up in a hardened vehicle you open yourself up to very limited vision. If you are just bugging out and resistance is minimal you can go around or over a lot of...

    Recovery possibilities FL 800 miles?

Where is the vehicle located? You can check Uship or other sites that help people get stuff moved. The trouble wtih hauling something to central FL on a flatbed is that there is not much stuff to haul back and that means deadheading back or a real cheap load back to another area. If you...

    Find the right Deuce

There are many threads on here about buying your first MV......some people have issues with the search feature here so maybe one of the gurus can post some links for you. I agree with the advice to find a fellow member in your area and do a private purchase......if they are a good guy they...

    Deuce hard tops

Well the guy came back this morning with only one top.....it is a NOS M211 (stenciled on the crate). He said the other crates had civy junk in them and there was no other military stuff in the lot. He left it with me on consignment. I'll take some pics and post it in the classifieds...

    5 ton Ambulance

Combatsurplus.....that rig is tougher than woodpecker lips.[thumbzup][thumbzup]:jumpin: It needs to make an appearance at the GA Rally in Oct.

Falls on its face at 1800 rpms

Fuel filters are always the "usual suspects". This especially true if the previous owner was using alternative fuels. You might want to consider opening the plug on the bottom of the fuel tank (make sure you have a big enough catch pan to hold what's in the tank) and draining the crud out of it...

    Air leak - behind dash

There is a valve on the firewall (under the glovebox) where you can hook an air hose to. Have you checked to make sure the valve is not partially open or leaking?

    Deuce hard tops

I was on the carport this morning attempting to beat an old riding lawn mower into submission when a truck pulls up in the yard. Two guys get out and ask if the dueces in the back yard are mine (no, I'm just deuce sitting them................here's your sign). I give them the 50 cent tour...
