    FNG from GA

:cookoo:Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Accademy.:cookoo: You are headed down the slippery slope of MV addiction with a bunch of guys that will grease the skids as you go by. Lots of prior service and retired guys on here.....you'll never meet a better bunch of misfits in one place. We...

    H2duece

Cabovers are a lot noiser and you have the "doghouse" beween the seats where the engine is. That takes up a lot of interior space. You will be squeezed into two small spaces on either side of it like in the HUMVEE or HEMMET. You are also the first one there in an accident. There is also the...

    Is it even possible...

I have picked up a lot of MV's...most of them I just drove home with proof of insurance.....no tag, no permits. If it looks like an MV and you are not doing anything to call attention to yourself you prob won't be stopped. I drove a deuce (with my Ford Ranger in the bed) towing another deuce...

    M820 Recovery

It is a highly modified M920. I think there is a post by Soni on exactly what he has done to it. It will pass eveything but a fuel stop. I would not be ashamed to be caught speeding in it.

    lincoln city shooting

When they make killing a LEO a mandatory death penalty and use the public firing squad to carry out the sentence there will be deterence. If it is an open and shut case (eyewitness to the murder) time from conviction to execution should be no longer than six months. Most of these killings...

    Repro Body Panels

Many years ago I was driving on I-95 in Miami and I saw some M151's sitting in a lot next to the interstate. I jumped off at the next exit and went back down the service road and stopped at the lot where they were sitting. They looked like they had just come out of the factory. The guy who...

What exactly is an EUC for?

It is to prove to the Powers-that-Be that you are not a godless terrorist that is going to use obsolete military equipment to commit an atrocity or a right wing wacko who wants to overthrow the gooberment. The EUC process requires that someone sitting in an obscure government office in cubical...

    M820 Recovery

Today we (Bama Lady, Elmo and I) went up to Redstone to help M920 (Soni) recover Sirblissfull's M820 Expando Van. No prob convoying up in the Dodge and we met Soni about 0745 just down the road from where the truck was stored. Mr. Murphy was showing his azz and we had to jump off Soni's...

Should I paint my trucks other than Military green?

It's your dog and you can whip it if you want to. Here is a pic of my former M816 that I sold to a wrecker service. Since you bought it you are entittled to make it your own.

Soft Top Field Expedient Emergency Repair???

One issue to consider, other than freezing your buns off, is that without heat you will have visibility problems. Take a caulking gun and a couple of tubes of silicone caulk to seal around the windows. Even if you patch the top if the gaskets around the windows leak you will have...

M 123's going to the scrap yard

There are three of them within 3 miles of my house....they are owned by a scrapper and so far he has seen fit not to take the "blue flame speed wrench" to them. Scrap is high now so the price you might have to pay to get one would put it north of what a collector value is. If there is any...

whats the best rout for parts

I have seen HUMMVEE parts go out through GL....my guess is that dealers are paying premium prices and snagging them for resale. I met some folks at the the 2009 MVPA convention that had HUMVEEs...one of them is a member here.....maybe he will chime in and help you out.

    Another question

You can not put markings on it that would lead people to believe that it is a current active duty military vehicle. You can use the indica of a de-activated unit and make it a "historical representation". When I was at Fort McClellan, AL I was in the 365th Transportation Company which was...

    Deuce pickup

It is far far better to have a deuce and not need it than to need a deuce and not have it.8)

Meridian, MS to San Diego, CA

The most important thing to remember is that the only thing that lies more consistantly than a career politician is a deuce fuel guage. There are some long stretchs out yonder.....carry at least 20 gallons of extra fuel....better yet get a 100 gallon tank you can mount in the bed and a 12 volt...
