This is exactly why I dropped my antique tags and registered the deuce and the M915 as farm trucks. I have a farm policy through Progressive.....I still pay more than I want to but they can't ticket me for "Improper Tags".
I have noticed a lot more unmarked DOT vehicles running around here...
Ted's Trucks in Dothan, AL has some HEMMT's and some pieces of HEMMT's.
Ted is a great guy but he is real proud of those HEMMT's.
Load up a deuce with cash and go see him.
I agree with Jim that Mobile would be a good venue to grow into a regional event like Aberdeen. The MVPA already has a head start on this since they have held an event there for several years.
I am going to try to make the April event at the USS Alabama this year. If I do I'll bring the issue up...
The Dixie Division of the MVPA has a Gulfcoast rally at the USS Alabama every year.
This year it is March 9-10. USS ALABAMA BATTLESHIP
It is right off I-10 near Mobile, AL.
That would be a great venue with the Battleship Alabama in the background.
They have an awesome collection of aircraft...
Who's gonna be the first one on the block to "bob" a 915????
An air ride single axle would make for a smoth ride.
You could install a civy walk in sleeper behind the cab.
Short flatbed behind the sleeper.
Dual 6 inch exhaust pipes.
Since the HEMMT rims...
Registering it as an antique MV can put a lot of restrictions on what you do with it (as can insuring it as an antique vehicle).
I have farm tags on all of mine and a farm policy with Progressive.
It costs a little more but I can use them for their intended purpose without risking a ticket...
The gold depository is not actually on the base but is adjacent to it on federal property.
There is a Quick Reaction Force on base ready to move to the depository if needed.
There was a story about this on the History Channel a while back.
Rumor has it that the gold was moved out of Fort...
As I understand it they are going to move the Army Reserve records center there from St. Louis and consolidate some other directorates there.
I took basic training there twice....once in 72 and again in 84 (got out and came back in with long break in service).
When Fort McMuffin (McClellan) was closed the Chemical Corp, Military Police and Women's Army Corps (WAC) museums were moved........the reasoning is that there will be more visitors at an active duty duty base to support the museum.
Benning is now home of the Armor and Infantry branches......the...
PM ALREDNECK.....he is hauling again but I think he will be out west toward the end of the month.
There may be someone going to the FLA Rally (near Claremont) that could flat tow it back for you.
I got the 411 on that vehicle when I was there last year.
It is a self propelled gun..can't remember the nomenclature.
It is a "gate guardian" that was sent there to be painted.
The refurb shop that usually does the painting is busy rebuilding M900 series vehicles so the vehicle sits there until...
A few years ago big scrap dealer near me sold out to a bigger scrap outfit from up North.
The seller had been buying out of Anniston Army Depot for years and had a yard full of good MV's, engines in cans, and NOS parts piled over several acres.
The buyer brought in a shredder and sent everything...
Welcome to the Green Iron loony bin.:cookoo:
Being in Hotlanta you are in the center of a hotbed of MV activity.
I am having a mini-rally in March here in Bammer and there is the Rally to End All Rallys (Clinto's Rally) in Oct. east of Atlanta.
Come revel in the maddness with the similarly...
